Saroj Khan’s Journey In Bollywood

The recent event of Big Shots witnessed an enriching conversation with the choreography maestro, Ms. Saroj Khan. Hosted at the Indian International Center, Max Mueller Marg, Mrs. Saumya Aggarwal, a Board Member of Rishihood Varsity and the moderator for the evening welcomed the chief guest and the audience. Mr. Mahesh Agarwal, radiologist, and a Board Member thanked Ms. Khan and congratulated the team for the association with her.

Saroj Khan shared about her humble beginning in Bollywood 61 years ago when industry and especially dancing was male-centric. With the responsibility of running the family, she started as a child artist in the movie Nazrana and became an assistant dance choreographer at the tender age of 12. She retraces her journey with ‘Geeta Mera Naam’ when director Sadhana offered her the first break. She gratefully recalls Subhash Ghai who was impressed by her commitment to work offered her work in the movie Hero.

She fondly retells about the making of the super hit number ‘ek do teen..’ with Madhuri Dixit which remains very close to her heart and vivid in her memories. Her relentless dedicated work pushed the Filmfare awards to include Choreography as a separate category for nominations. She not only bagged the first one but completed a hat-trick.

She asserts that the time she joined was a golden period for the industry because everyone worked for the love of art and not the business. She also expresses her hopes of Indian style of dancing to remain on the screens for a long run as she puts ‘our art never dies’. She proudly tells how the next gen actresses have expressed interest to learn Indian dance form from her in the recent times. Choreography, she believes, manifests craving for creation. She keeps her creative process simple where she visualizes the situation of the song in the narrative, considers the dancing ability of the artists and then follows her heart to create the magic.

She has formally entered into a partnership with the School of Creativity, Rishihood to guide the team for School of Creativity. The Varsity seeks to reach exemplary heights in creativity and service society with this partnership. She appreciated Rishihood for initiating the much-needed effort of bringing the novel course of formalizing dance education in India. She also expressed the concern that the path would not be easy enough as a visual performing art like dance is difficult to be taught through traditional means but with concerted efforts of the team, it would be great service for the art and the artists.

Vaishnavipratima- The New Interiors Studio Opens in Goa

Vaishnavipratima is as unusual a studio as its name. Just like its name, it stands for uniqueness, uniqueness in approach, uniqueness in designs and uniqueness in attitude.

The Store

This interiors studio opened its doors on the 14th of September in Soccoro, North Goa. Expansively created in a 90-year-old Portuguese Villa, the visuals take your breath away right from the entrance. As you move in, the individually designed pieces of art start talking to you. One biggest uniqueness about the store is that no two pieces are identical, Pratima has carefully chosen it to be this way. Unless placed on order, all her designs are individualistic in nature.

The Collection

The store has both a mix of traditional and contemporary designs as well as ultra modern, chic and minimalistic designs. From bold chairs to rustic looking almirahs, sofa sets, lounge chairs, designer shelves, beds, colorful cushions, photo frames, paintings, artifacts, you name and its there. The huge villa has been beautifully designed with various sorts of art forming a cluster.

 

The first room of the villa showcases some beautifully designed and handcrafted furniture pieces. The color tones strike great contrast from subtle pastels to bold color pops, the area looks stunning with this combination of colors. This area showcases consoles, bookshelves, bar cabinets, wing chairs etc. and these all are made by Indian artisans.

Pop art dining couture and various artists’ works are on display in the second room. The third room comprises of an elaborate four-poster bed with cushions, throws, and rugs, giving it a very homely feel. There is also an open cafe area in the passage and back foyer of the villa and will soon serve exotic teas and bites.

This studio also houses some exquisite jewelry and designer apparel pieces; Chanderi Sarees designed by Prama and Pratima Pandey has designed the indo-western outfits and Bhavaa jewelry comprising of semiprecious gemstone collections. These have been introduced for the first time into the brand.

 

About the Brand

With its maiden store in Mumbai, Vaishnavipratima expanded its wings to Goa. Goa is the ideal choice as more and more people are investing in properties in Goa. And most of these properties are converted into villa homestays and resorts and thus the need for an exclusive interiors studio is obvious. Thus the brand opened up its second store in Goa with its signature collection and some add-ons like the jewelry and designer wear.

The Woman Behind the Brand

A self-made and self-taught interior designer, Vaishnavipratima started her passion by designing and redesigning her our house along with those of some close relatives and friends. In 2012, she thought of taking it up as a profession and started working on interior designing projects for other people’s home. The year 2016 saw her making it big by opening her first store in Mumbai. The store has a vast collection of home decor items that are customized and exclusively designed drawing inspiration from Pratima’s travel and aesthetic sense.

Yes, our favorite brand, who was always gentle, got gentler. Keeping up with the changing times and changing needs of both the children and mothers, Johnson’s revamped their products and made them even better and safer to be used on kids. Being a mommy blogger I was privileged enough to be called for this launch, and to our surprise, the best part was that we mommy bloggers were the first ones to not just see but also experience the products. Leaving the traditional way of ATL launch before anything else, in Deepali Agarwal’s (Head Baby Care, J&J) own words, she literally had to fight the senior management to leave that conventional route and chose a soft launch between the influencers community of mothers, who also happen to be the primary TG of the brand, because only a mother knows whats best for her child.

A few selected mommy bloggers from across the country gathered at the ITC Maratha in Mumbai for this grand launch. The brand had quite a few revelations to be made about the new products, primary being that the products would have the following

As a mother, I have personally been very loyal to the brand, my mum used Johnson’s on me and then I blindly followed it for my son. Even now, some of the products are in regular use, not just by my kid but the entire family. The mildness which has been proven for years and that special Johnson’s fragrance is something I find difficult to get over myself.

Well, Johnson’s once again proved that there could be no brand better than them, who understands baby skin care as well. Not just going by the theory, but we also did some practical demos, which instilled the faith even more. The baby shampoo having the perfect pH balance is something I myself tested practically. We were given an apparatus which included litmus strips, and 3 different kinds of shampoos, one Johnson’s, one regular family shampoo and one herbal shampoo. We had to take one spoon of each shampoo in different beakers, add 60ml water and mix them. We dipped the litmus strips in each solution and the results were astonishing. The litmus strip which was dipped in family shampoo turned literally black, which denoted its pH balance was on the higher side, making it extremely harsh even for adults, forget children. The herbal shampoo was less in comparison to the family shampoo, but when it came to Johnson’s shampoo, the litmus did not change color at all, hence proving that its pH was less than 4.5 which was perfectly balanced and very mild, gentle and safe to be used on children.

It was a day filled with a lot of fun activities and of course knowledge shared by the experts about the brand. Loved meeting all fellow mommy bloggers and enjoyed each moment spent at the event. I have already used the products and simply love them, they are really gentle.

Address Home Starts A Series Of Lifestyle Events!

Address Home, the iconic luxury home decor brand recently launched its first-ever series of lifestyle events, starting with an exclusive gourmet session for patrons and media. Joining hands with celebrated Chef Nishant Choubey and Awarded Sommelier, Mr. Ankur Chawla, the event was hosted at their Flagship Store in Greater Kailash 1 on 2nd of August. The objective of this series of events is customer engagement and adding value to their patrons’ lifestyle and entertaining know-how.

There were two interactive sessions held during the day, one at 12 pm to entertain their Patrons and the other in the evening for media and bloggers. This gourmet session promoted the concept of healthy eating, right from the choosing the ingredients to preparation, the idea of sustainability, using only local and seasonal produce. Both the sessions were interactive and informative as not just the recipes but benefits of each ingredient to many curious questions of the audiences were entertained.

For this event, Address Home had joined hands with FoodMate, a community platform for every foodie, as their Powered by partners for this Gourmet workshop. Apart from the patrons, some renown food bloggers enthusiasts like Dr. Radhika Agarwal, Mr. Sameer Bawa, Mr. Anshuman Sood had added power to the gourmet session.

Leica hosted its third session of ‘Coffee with Leica’ , a photo talk by Canadian Diplomat, Roger Chen

A leader in luxury camera segment worldwide, German Luxury Camera brand ‘Leica’celebrated the cultural heritage of India with the third session of ‘Coffee with Leica’on Saturday, 21stJuly 2018 by joining hands with Canadian Diplomat and proud Leica user- Mr. Roger Chen. The brand through this initiative not only promoted the Indian culture but also sharing Leica’s experience with the new generation of photographers.

Post the amazing response received for the first two sessions of ‘Coffee with Leica’, the third session was sculpted around Roger’s latest collection ‘Devotion- A Journey through India’, where he displayed photographs taken during his three years stay in India, capturing festivals, religion, culture and tradition. The session addressed new generation of photographers, sharing valuable information around ‘The art of capturing Indian streets which is filled with the amusing culture of India’ and photography journey with Leica.

The way Roger went on telling stories about each of his capture, it was a great narrative not just about photography nuances but also the culture of India. He also shared why some of his pictures, which he loved, never made it to the exhibition. All those minute details which change our perspective of looking at photographs in a certain way was just so interesting and intriguing.

His collection is up for exhibition at Leica Store, New Delhi from July 16thto July 26th, 2018.

Mr. Roger Chen has been a diplomat working overseas over the past 25 years in locations such as Jakarta, Kuwait, Shanghai, São Paulo, Cairo, Beijing, New York and the past three years in Delhi. Wishes and Blessings Organise a Painting Competition at Balwant Rai Mehta School!

Established in 2014 with a mission to ‘inspire and empower dreams’, Wishes and Blessings is a registered NGO that has emerged as a unique platform for helping the underprivileged. We aim to spread blessings and fulfil wishes by linking beneficiaries with donors. We work across
the spectrum of society surpassing age and gender barriers on diverse causes including education, health, skill development and relief. With their continuous effort in various fields, they strive to reach out to as many needy people as possible and according to their age and requirements, they put in efforts to fulfil their wishes.

Recently in association with Balwant Rai Mehta School, they organised a painting competition for children and I was bestowed upon an opportunity to be present their as a judge. Though judging the talent of these amazing kids is never justified and always a difficult task, but like the say its not about winning or loosing, its about the passion and the spirit. The moment I entered in the hall, I could sense the high spirits, excitement and passion that children were putting in painting their imaginations on sheets. As I kept moving, I felt as if each painting spoke something to me, it spoke to me of their sheer dedication, it spoke to me of the fact that they were not doing it for any competition, it didn’t matter if they won or not, they were doing it to satiate their own creativity. And each painting better than the other, put me as an artist to shame. The imagination that these children possess, their vividness is something we can never achieve as adults.

The best part about the event was that specially abled, and hearing impaired children were also part of it, but they were not made to feel any different. They were sitting like regular children and till the time, one actually doesn’t interact and come to know of their issues, its never showcased. And I would say that probably we as adults feel more for their disabilities, but the confidence they show, the way they carry themselves is unmatched.

After soaking myself in their art for about an hour, when I could not take my eyes off their working, it was finally time to judge the top 3 in all categories and this I would say was the most challenging part. In true sense each painting was better than the other and on several occasions we ended up being confused on which one to chose. After juggling our heads for long, finally 3 winners were chosen in each category, and all thanks to the support from Wishes and Blessings, the first winner in each category got scholarship worth Rs. 10000, to help them pursue their dreams further in the field of art.

It was a great event and I felt very privileged to be a part of it. I am looking forward to attend more events by Wishes and Blessings and somehow in my own little way contribute to the well being of mankind.
