Mangofied at Farzi Cafe!

Come summers, and Mango the king of fruits, is the only good thing about the season. Farzi cafe wanting to make the most of this summer season, launched a mango special menu and trust me, its totally worth indulging in.

To begin with, we ordered the Green Mango and Raw Papaya Salad with Peanuts and Imly Chutney, a very refreshing, sweet and sour salad, it will surely have your taste buds lingering for long.

Up next we tasted the Roasted Fish Tacos with Shredded Greens and Mango Salsa, these were the best dish I tasted that evening, and I really wish I could have eaten a little more of them. I just had one taco and how I miss them even while writing. I am definitely going back for these, and make hay while the sun still shines 🙂

Raw Mango and Mushroom Kulchas, and Ghee Podi Baby Idlys were next from the menu, and I actually liked them both, especially the kulchas. They were crisp from the outside, and the inside filling of mushrooms and mango was nice, soft and juicy.

Then we tried the Tandoori River Sole with Kachi Amby Ki Chutney and Popped Amarnath, was a delightful preparation, the tandoori fish tikka seared with mango chutney, adding the sour punch to it, gave a very unusual dynamism to the dish.

Spiced Chicken Balls was another stellar dish and is definitely a must have, they were really nice and juicy and the green mango chutney topped on it was simply amazing.

Ginger and Aam Papad Prawns, were good too, but as I am not very fond of prawns, I just had one, and found it to be decently prepared.

For mains, we tried Andhra Fish Curry with Raw Mango and Steamed Rice and it surely was a delectable preparation. The taste of raw mango enhanced the curry flavour, and it teamed well with the rice.

I also tried the Aubergines done with Asparagus, Cherry Tomatoes and Mango Masala, though the masala was nice and flavoursome, but I found the sourness a little too much to go with aubergines. A little less of mango masala could have been a better deal. Well thats as far as I am concerned, rest its always a personal choice.

We also tried a couple of dishes from the regular menu, which included Duck Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Biryani, and all these dishes were amazing. I especially loved the duck samosas.

Mango & White Chocolate Popsicle, Vanilla Pod Cheese Cake with Aam Ras, Deconstructed Rabdi , Parle G Cheese Cake and Chocolate Bomb. Coming to the mango special desserts first, the mango and white chocolate popsicle was delightful and really sweet, the vanilla pod cheese cake too was an interesting preparation, the pouring of aam ras over the cheese pod, made it look drool worthy and so was the taste. Deconstructed Rabdi, which comes along with some other Indian sweets was a nice example of molecular gastronomy, the central ball was broken, some rabdi was poured on to it and it further broke down and tasted quite nice. The parle g cheese cake was a bit disappointing, as I found it to be almost sugarless and also because of the cheese cake sandwiched between two biscuits, it was difficult to break and eat it. The chocolate bomb is great for all chocolate lovers, though its one of the most common desserts now, but its always a pleasure.

This was my first visit at Farzi, and though I liked almost everything, no special mocktails for the mango festival left me a little disappointed and I think they should have definitely come up with some options in that. For cocktails lovers, they do have decent options, but non-alcoholics will have to settle for mocktails from the regular menu only, nevertheless, I think the Mango Festival at Farzi surely calls for a visit and you must go, till mangoes and summers last..! Enjoy

Made in Punjab- Truly Punjabi…!!

Made in Punjab is another fine dine, class apart restaurant by none other than Zorawar Kalra. His restaurants have a different kind of niche which is almost unmatchable and Made in Punjab also stands true to the benchmark. Fully Punjabi in terms of decor, ambience and even music which is played, this is a place for food lovers in the truest of sense. This is a place where you fully indulge in food without thinking of calories, think only taste and you will love it.

When Mr. Bhalla Met Ms. Papdi (quite an interesting name, isn’t it) and Tokri Chaat were the first two things we ordered, along with Guava Mary and Mojito for drinks.

When Mr. Bhalla Met Ms. Papdi was as inserting in taste as its name, nice and soft bhallas with kurkuri papdi and tanginess of tamarind chutney and green chutney, made it all together a nice dish. The Tokri Chaat too was good, but the tastes were almost similar because of the fact that they both belonged to the chaat family.

Next we ordered, Legacy Tandoori Champ, Meat Te Seekhan, Lol Tikki and Gabbar Prawns. The Tandoor Champ was outstanding, such tender mutton chops with excellent tandoori marination, done to perfection, this one is a must try. Lol Tikki, very different and unique, just like the name, it was a mutton cutlet made from mutton legs slow cooked for over 10 hours and it was extremely delicious. Gabbar Prawns and Seekh were good too, but nothing exceptional about them.

Chicken Chilli, Broccoli Badam and Kalmi Kebab along with Creamy Seekh Kebabs were another set of starters we ordered. The Broccoli was excellent and so was the Chilli Chicken, Kalmi Kebabs as per me had a scope of improvement, as chicken could have been more tender, it was a little hard for my liking, the winner here was the Creamy Seekh, topped with cheesy and creamy sauce these were really amazing and definitely a must try.

[easy-image-collage id=5588]

Coming to main course we tried Luxury BC ( hey what are you thinking..??? Its just Luxury Butter Chicken ;)), Maa ki Daal, Lehsuni Palak Chenna, Nalli Hard Kaur and Paneer Lababdar and must say that each and everything was delicious. I specially loved the Daal, Lehsuni Palak Chenna and Nalli Hard Kaur the most. True authentic Punjabi flavours at their best!

And then one of the best things happened.. we tried the Guchchi Pulao, aka mushroom pulao which was mind blowing. Guchchi by the way is one of the most expensive kinds of mushroom and it tasted amazing.

And now coming to another delightful and sweet part, the desserts which were AMMMMAzing… really each one of them was better than the other. Goushalla Di Kulfi, Mango Rasgulla, Stuffed Gulabjamun, Nukkad Jalebi and Ras Dates Malai. All of them should definitely be tried and the ones not to be missed at any cost are the Mango Rasgulla, Nukkad Jalebi and the Chocolate Stuffed Gulab Jamun. These are truly heavenly delights.

In the end all I can say is that this is one place worth every minute and every penny you spend.. so just go for it..!

Dhaba Food comes live at the Exquisite Singh Sahib…!!

Singh Sahib at Eros Hotel, New Delhi has always boasted of traditional Indian food with nuances from across the border as well, but they still keep innovating and bringing newness in their menu, sometimes this newness is adapted in the menu for long term and sometimes the newness is in brought like a food festival for a limited period of time. This time around Singh Sahib brought in the flavours from the streets of Amritsar right in their restaurant with the Dhaba Festival.

[easy-image-collage id=5271]

With deep insights gathered from their travel to Amritsar, F&B Manager Umesh Dalal and Executive Chef Nikhil Rastogi tried to add as much authenticity as possible with of course some twists of tastes and chef’s special inspired dishes.

With live Tandoor to Kulcha Stations and Elaborate Main Course spread, there was a lot to leave your taste buds lingering.

[easy-image-collage id=5275]

We tried Tandoori Chook, Jalandhari Seekh and Masalewali Singhada from the live tandoor station, and Lawrence Road Ka Paneer Tikka, Makhan Da Malai Soya and Sarhadi Bharwan Aaloo made for the veg options. Must say that all the dishes were exceptionally good. The Masalewali Singhada and Sarhadi Bharwan Aaloo need a special mention though, as they were superlative.

Next we tried Makhan Ki Machi, Beere Ka Roast Chicken & Atta Chicken along with a platter of Mix Pakodas. The Beere ka Roast Chicken was perfect, and Makhan Ki Machi was another highlight dish. A plate full of Pakodas is always delightful anyways.

[easy-image-collage id=5282]

For the main course, I opted for Telephone Exchange Ki Mutton Chaap and then tried a bit of Kunna Gosht Patialashahi and it surely was one of the best dishes I had for the evening. Bharawan Ke Choley, Palak Paneer Ambalewale, Malka Masoor Take Wali and Amritsari Wadiyan were all delectable and I can easily say that the veg spread was simply amazing.

A variety of Chutneys and Papads really added to the flavour and I personally loved Kali Gajar ka Achar and Lahsun Ki Chutney the most.

For desserts Kadhai Doodh which was superb, Sharma Ji Ka Jalebi was fabulous but here the clear winner was Chef’s own creation which was Kurkura Lachha with Gur Sorbet. I mean the Gur Sorbet was outstanding, I could never imagine something like this and Chef Nikhil Rastogi creation emerged as a sure shot winner.

My experiences at Eros are always top notch, the food, the ambience and most of all the hospitality of people is just amazing. I mean how many times you get to really enjoy a meal with  insights from the F&B Manager, PR Manager and the Chef himself sitting across the table and engaging in candid conversations. It was a splendid evening spent relishing amazing Dhaba Food in a great company. I always look forward to my next visit at Eros.

A delightful gastronomic experience @Gastronomica Kitchen & Bar

Culinary journeys across places always interests me and when something turns up near to home, its even wonderful. I recently headed out to this amazing place Gastronomica Kitchen & Bar tucked away in the ever hustling bustling GK 1, M Block Market.

The place has a very vibrant appeal to it and yet is cozy and warm. The staff is extremely hospitable and completely aware of their own brand, their recommendations and knowledge impresses you.

[easy-image-collage id=5196]

To begin with we ordered, Quinoa Bhel, Ratatouille Cigars, Mascarpone Chicken and A+A+A Pizza. The Quinoa Bhel was outstanding, Quinoa which has risen sharply in recent years is considered a very healthy and wheat-free alternative, which is a great resource of protein, fibre and iron. But the moment we thing of healthy things, we assume that the taste will be compromised, but this treatment of Quinoa where in for not even one moment you realise that you are eating something different, the way the Bhel taste was infused using Quinoa was remarkable. I simply loved it and for me it was one of the best dishes of the evening.

Ratatouille Cigars were good too, but may be because the Quinoa Bhel still had a lingering taste, I could not appreciate them much and went on to munch some more bhel. The A+A+A Pizza was really nice, very unusual topping of green apples, apples and pineapple, this one will surely delight your taste buds.

The Mascarpone Chicken was another highlight of the evening, I simply could not resist this wonderful dish. Loaded with cream and cheese, this was an orgasmic experience, it just melts in your mouth. Worth drooling over and over again, don’t miss it.

Moving on, we tried Wasabi Fish Cake, Chicken Sliders, Bagels and Pizza Pazza. I am not a Wasabi fan and hence did not like the fish cakes much, as I find the wasabi flavour too strong.

The Chicken Sliders were good, juicy and tender chicken cutlets in small soft buns served with potatoes, it made for a wholesome dish.

Pizza Pazza was again a delightful pizza with chicken topping, thin crust and well done. Bagels though on a sweeter side, because they had a filling of apples, were nice and unusual.

Coming to the main course, we ordered Cottage Cheese Steak and Chicken Milanese. The cottage cheese steak was just about ok, nothing too great but nothing bad either. Chicken Milanese, a spaghetti with two big chunks of chicken in a red sauce was bit spicy but delectable. I simply loved indulging in it and surely makes for an impressive main course.

Beetroot’s Halwa and An Evening in Jaipur comprised of our desserts for the evening. The beetroot halwa was good, but something that needs a taste development, might not be likeable in one go. An evening in Jaipur were basically Malpuas dipped in a sugary syrup, they were crisp and nice, but too sweet for my liking.

They have a wide and a very unusual selection of drinks and cocktails especially. Very presentable and different flavours infused together always make for a surprise. Recommended- Charcoal Martini, Paan Mojito, Bubblegum, and Tiramisu Margarita.

Overall I had a very pleasant experience at Gastronomica and I really look forward to a visit again. The ambience, the food, the drinks, everything was great.

Zizo- Best Mediterranean Cuisine Comes to Noida Now..!

ZIZO, Its as classic as it sounds! Just a brief about Zizo , its an award winning Lebanese restaurant (2015 and 2016) Delhi and Gurgaon, and now they have extended their venture to DLF Mall of India, Noida. The ambience is superb and they have an amazingly hospitable staff.

[easy-image-collage id=4781]

Chef Danny was on the floor himself, explaining the dishes and how he has added the Indian taste to the them making it more comfortable for the TG, which in a way is funny, but definitely yummy at the same time 🙂

We tried a variety of food from Zizo and I can say the food at this place is really nice and should definitely be tried.

Batata Hara to begin with is one of the dish that I strongly recommend, crispy potatoes with perfect spices, not too hot, but mildly spiced.

Falafel Basket which had crispy cutlets served with pickled veggies, salad and tahini sauce is also something I vouch for. It was delectable.

Next were the Cheesy Cigars, and though I found it to be too cheesy for my liking, those who drool on cheese, this one if surely for them. Oodles of cheese rolled in crispy cigars this is one dish for cheese lovers.

The Veg Mezze Platter consisted of 3 different types of dips served with pita bread, and all the dips were great to taste. The one called Lebaneh Beltoum was in particular the best, it had a tangy flavour with garlic in it and tasted really well. The Trio-Hummus was also totally worth it and one must try it for sure.

Zaatar Man’oushe, a flat bread pizza topped with herbs mixed with olive oil and cucumber on its top was crispy and different. It looked like a pizza for sure, but tasted quite different.

Fattoush Salad, was another dish that one can try, nothing too elaborate about this one, it was a simple salad but tasted quite good.

Coming to desserts, they truly were the highlight of the day. Lady’s Arm was a very different kind of dessert, crispy rolled pastry with custard filling, I really loved it, it was delicious.

Baked Cheese Cake was another dessert that one cant afford to miss, 3 layers of cheese topped with crushed pistachios, served with sugar syrup made it a visual and a tasty delight to relish.

Here is a big thank you to the Zizo team for serving us such delectable food, really look forward to visit them soon, and you too must visit ZiZo for a lovely Mediterranean cuisine.

Pier 38, Cyber Hub, Gurgaon- Your Gateway to Persian Food!

Craving for some Lebanese and Arabic Food, head to Pier 38 in Cyber Hub, Gurgaon and you can definitely satiate your cravings with some lip smacking food and signature cocktails.

Piers being significant because of the trade between India and other countries and Persia amongst the prime ones, Piers 38 as a name came into existence serving flavours from Persia!

The whole ambience of the place is extremely vibrant and yet very inspired by the actual Piers at the oceans. It has a very rustic appeal and a lot of elements are like a reflection of actual things being used. For example actual Pier at the entrance, bar lights that look like ship searchlights and many other detailing in interiors gives the place a very thematic appearance.

I was recently invited for a bloggers meet and had a great fun with my foodie friends indulging in some great food, music and drinks.

To begin with, we were served the Mezze Non Veg Platter, which consisted of Chicken Cigar Rolls, Kebabs and Cutlets, along with some Pita Bread and Dips. This one surely is like a meal in itself and one must give it a try. Next was a wholesome serving of Chicken Cigar Rolls and I really liked them. They were crispy on the outside with tender and juicy chicken on the inside.

We tried some Persian Barbecue specialties like Iranian Hot N Sour Paneer Skewers and Lamb Chelo. The Lamb Chelo was delectable and being a non-vegetarian I gave Paneer Skewers a miss, though they looked quite tempting.

Next we were served Galautis and they truly were amazing. Soft, tender and mouth melting, this is one dish you should not miss. We also tried some Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tangri Kebab and Chicken Shawarma, and all of them very fabulous.

Dilli Chaat was a surprise for me and I was completely blown over by it. It was so delicious. Crisp and tasteful, this dish is highly recommended.

I was too full with all the above-mentioned dishes that I had to give main course a skip, but this too looked very tempting. There was Veg Khoresht, which is like a vegetarian stew, and Veg Moussaka, which again is a very popular classic dish.

For non-vegetarians there was Khoresht Bamia and Ghalieh Mahi, a traditional Persian Fish Curry.

There was also a wide array of signature cocktails like La Orange Cosmo, Pomegranate Basil Martini, Habibi amongst others. I personally liked La Orange Cosmo the most and Smokey Bourbon Bot was good too.

Coming to desserts, there were Nutella Cigar Rolls, Persian Baklawa and Fereni. Out of these I was really tempted to try the Nutella Cigar Rolls, for the obvious reasons, I mean who can ignore Nutella, but this is the only thing that ended up disappointing me, because the cigar rolls in themselves were a tad too salty and it seemed more like a snack than a dessert. Hence I sweetened my mouth with the traditional Baklawa that was good.

Overall I loved the place and meeting fellow foodie friends is always a bonus. So Pier 38 should definitely be on your list and you must try it out soon.

Starting with the 1st beer cocktail – Expresso Black Velvet Beer, the smooth coffee flavored cocktail was just too quenching. The taste just lingered for longer while. And the Captain’s Keg was just another invention which was an innovative cocktail but promises to leave one energized like no one’s business.

German delicacy like Butcher’s Platter, Chicken Rolls & Wiener Schinetzel were one among the few yummy recipes dished out by VITS.

Espresso Black Velvet Beer – Espresso Black Velvet Cocktail is seriously the best of both worlds, beer and espresso, and I plan on enjoying many glasses of this lovely elixir here at VITS. One may think this an unlikely combination but it’s actually quite good and some people prefer it over other cocktails

img_20160930_211824175

Captain’s Keg – Ahoy Matey! A typical Pirate Cocktail that it is but has earned many fans across the European coast. The Captain’s Keg, made with white rum, guava nectar, and grapefruit juice, then topped with light beer and garnished with a lime wheel.  “This is your captain speaking, and I recommend you to have it!” This is what you would too say post having this nectarous cocktail.

img_20160930_220521667

Butcher’s Platter: Scrumptious sausages of meat with a mix of taste and flavor captured the best of German produce. This “slaughter platter”, with its sausages of pork & chicken, is traditionally made and served with German Potato Salad. Well-grilled & soft sausages were simply lip-smacking.

img_20160930_213643025

Chicken Rolls:  Continental in nature, these chicken rolls are quite wholesome. Infused with minced chicken and spinach, they are so soft that every bite can be celestial.

VITS, Mumbai- Seafood Festival

VITS Seafood Festival

There is a seafood dish for any occasion and all tastes, and this time I savored  a vibrant collection of fish and seafood recipes that I almost smelling the sea air. Perennially popular, seafood can be used in dishes for cold winter nights, light summer lunches and everything in between.

Seafood cuisine is one of those dishes not everyone feels easy to try. But there’s nothing to be scared of–the hub I suggest is on a roll. The Seafood Festival at VITS Luxury Hotel, Mumbai is just too indulging. Just take a deep breath and give it a try — I am certain that you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

The menu here serves an array of fantabulously cooked seafood recipes that’ll leave one salivating for more. While the menu listed Tuna, Salmon, Shrimps and a lot more, I chose to try the Sriracha Shrimp Basket Fry & Marinara Calamari Basket Fry.

Sriracha Shrimp Basket Fry:

The crisply fried Sriracha Shrimp were way too flavorsome. Complemented with Hot sauce, Tartar, Fried Onion Rings and French Fries, this delicacy was a simply tantalizing.

imageedit_6_3760947741    imageedit_8_7597411941

The crunchy outer surface and the soft finely cooked shrimp in Sriracha sauce just melts in the mouth! Sriracha come together in this spicy and flavorful dish. Gluten free AND totally delicious!

Marinara Calamari Basket Fry:

The next up was Marinara Calamari Fry. Rings of calamari are first marinated and when an order comes in, these rings, are coated in flour, fried and served with their house-made marinara sauce. The calamari were crispy and tender.

imageedit_10_4919297676

imageedit_13_5124415438

These were just two of the other mouth-watering recipes.. But I bet guests can gorge on the delectable spread of delicacies including dishes such as Barbeque Tuna Basket Fry where thin slices of well marinated Tuna a fried with barbeque sauce, Tahini Salmon Fish Basket fry complemented with Tahini Dip, Kurkure Basa Fish Basket Fry and the iconic Koliwada Bombay Duck Basket Fry among others.

Jon’s Head Grill- Restaurant Review

I recently visited this vibrant yet quaint place in GK-1 M block market called Jon’s Head Grill. It was a bloggers table organized by my foodie friend Vaishali. Do check out her food journey on Facebook.

It’s a perfect hangout place, if you are looking at spending a chilled out time with your family or friends.

img_6769

Now coming to the food, it offers a wide range of multi-cuisine food from Italian, Mexican to American. Here are some of the things that I tried:

Chicken Nachos: Amazing and fully loaded nachos with oodles of cheese, chunks of chicken, beans, queso & jalapeno served with pico, sour cream and guacamole. This one surely makes for a perfect evening snack. It really was very satisfying.

img_6774

Triple Way Non-Veg: A combination of chicken rolls, chicken wings and chicken sausages, this platter can be any non-vegetarians delight. I dint like the sausages much, but the rolls and wings were really worth trying.

img_6773

Cajun Spiced Fish: Seasoned white fish fillet, grilled to perfection, is served on a bed of rice with some seasonable vegetables. This dish is a complete meal in itself and definitely a must try on the list. The flavours are mild; the dish is simple, yet wonderful.

img_6785

Grilled Chicken Platter: This is basically the chicken version of the above-mentioned dish, where marinated grilled chicken breast is served on a bed of rice with seasonal veggies. This was equally good, and those who don’t prefer fish can settle for chicken without compromising on the taste. By the way they also have a cottage cheese version for my vegetarian friends, and trust me as a dish it was heavier than the non-veg one, as two big pieces of cottage cheese on bed of rice, make it too filling. My suggestion, share it with your friends 🙂

img_6800

Chicken Supreme Pizza: A thin crust pizza loaded with barbecued chicken, mushrooms, peppers and jalapeños. I really liked this one. It tasted great and all pizza lovers must try.

Chilli Barbecue Chicken Pizza: This pizza was loaded with spicy chili barbecued chicken with some green bell peppers and onions. This one had a slight Chinese taste twist to it, but Chinese being my favorite, I loved this pizza as much.

img_6793

img_6797

Chicken Pasta: They serve pasta as per the choice of sauce, alfredo, pesto or marinara. We opted for the creamy alfredo sauce and it was yumm. Served with two toasted garlic breads, the pasta was creamy, saucy, and cheesy with loads of chicken. Sounds orgasmic isn’t it, tasted good too. Go for it.

img_6840

Burgers: They have some amazing variety in burgers and I am sure any kind of burger you are fond of, go to this place. You name it and they have it. We tried the Bacon Burger, a seasoned lamb patty, grilled perfectly with smoked bacon, cheese, mayo, tomato wedges, lettuce and pickle, this burger was heavenly. My mouth waters as I write about it. This is definitely a must try. The next was the Ranch Burger. One can select the option of patty from chicken, lamb and vegetarian. This one comes with barbecue sauce, ranch dressing, mayo, onion rings and shredded lettuce. This was as amazing as the bacon burger. And after tasting these two burgers I can easily say that it makes a good burger joint for sure.

img_6827

img_6828

img_6834

img_6857

img_6859

Chicken Dimsums: Well nothing too great here, this was the only disappointment. The dough of the dimsums was very sticky; in fact it was breaking down and sticking to the bottom of the sheet upon lifting it up. The filling too was just about OK. All in all a very regular sort of a dish, I won’t really recommend it unless you just cant do without dimsums for a day.

img_6806

img_6807

img_6809

Desserts: Chocolate Pastry and Brownie was served for desserts, the pastry was simply amazing, dense, chocolaty, super moist and delectable. It’s a must have for all chocolate lovers, and those who don’t like chocolate, try this one and you may start liking it for good. The brownie was good too, though could have been a little more fudgy and gooey, but still can give it a try.

img_6850

img_6855

Drinks: I tried the Jon’s Head Raspberry Classic Margarita and it was nice and refreshing.
img_6792

Overall I loved my foodie experience at Jon’s Head and I recommend giving it a try for sure. It is definitely a food joint worth visiting, you wont be disappointed.

Experience Food, The Army Way At 38 Barracks

Who could imagine that an accidental meeting with an army man in a train journey could become a turning point in Ankul Agarwal’s life and become an inspiration behind a theme restaurant. This is what exactly happened when owner of the Restaurant 38 Barracks, Ankur met a stranger, in this case an army colonel, on a train journey to Shimla. During the course of the journey, Ankur learnt many facets of an army man’s life and this how the idea of 38 Barracks was germinated. Ankur was so moved by the colonel’s story that he wanted to give a tribute to army men, 38 Barracks, as a restaurant based on the lives of army men is Ankur’s realization of that tribute.

38 Barracks truly reflects the spirit of an Army Man’s life in its every corner, in fact special corners like Locker Room, Drawing Room, Balcony have been marked in the restaurant, nooks and corners, walls and shelves are adorned with mementoes and memorable of army battalions. From medals, to old telephone, monochrome photographs and guns and rifles, every single aspect of the décor speaks loudly about the theme. Unlike other thematic restaurants where a few elements reflect the theme, 38 Barracks have gone all the way in maintaining the essence of the theme. And not just the décor, but also their menu is carefully curated with items that have been popular with major battalions of the world.

I was recently invited by Vickrham from Foodmaniacs..Born to Eat (do check out their blog for all food and lifestyle updates), for an exclusive bloggers table introducing new items in the food menu, which are designed by Michelin Recommended Chef Gautam Chaudhary.

Gautam himself took us through the culinary journey of developing those dishes and the inspiration behind. Now coming to food, it was as awesome as the entire place.

Amuse Bouche: It was a watermelon based pallet cleanser, which was cooled through a bowl filled with liquid nitrogen, one of those things that come under molecular gastronomy. Along with watermelon, there was feta cheese, lettuce leaves and balsamic vinegar balls, which looked like caviar. It was perfect to its name, amusing and tasteful. The cold fumes coming from the bowl of nitrogen was making it look really interesting and worth capturing on the camera. Check out my video on Instagram, and do show some love by following me 🙂

IMG_6327

IMG_6332

48th Battalion (Mocktail): It was also a watermelon-based mocktail, with some apple juice; sprite, green chilies and sour mix thrown in. It indeed was a very refreshing drink and I liked it.

IMG_6301

Paneer Tikka Barrels: This was one of the most amazing Paneer Tikka’s that I have eaten in recent times. The shape of the Paneer Tikka was like a barrel and It was stuffed with dry fruits. I loved this part, because normally paneer tikka’s are only coated with the masala on the top but after one bite, they sometimes taste bland, but this barrel with its surprise filling inside is a sure shot winner in this category.

IMG_6294

Gosht Ke Galauti: These were really mouth melting; the meat was so tender and delectable. These kebabs were served with Ulta Tawa Paranthas and Green Mint Chutney.

IMG_6303

Chicken Duet Tikka: Two different versions of chicken tikka, which are glazed in clay oven, are a heavenly delight for tikka lovers. This should be a definite try on your list, highly recommended.

IMG_6339

Malaysian Military Chicken Satay: These are Malaysian marinade chicken satays served with peanut chutney. Mild in taste, these make a perfect choice if you want something super tasty and yet less spicy. Just go for it.

IMG_6336

Soya Rahra: This will be a delight for soya lovers and vegetarians in general. A very well marinated soya chaap with a thick soya keema gravy, awesomely spiced, made this dish a wonderful one indeed. I personally liked it a lot.

IMG_6316

Clash of Clans: A super awesome combo of two entirely different versions of fish. One part has the very English Fish N Chips while the other has Ajwaini Mahi Tikka but both of them equally awesome. Though the Ajwaini Tikka was little spicy, but the solution is to dig one bit of Ajwaini Tikka followed by the very crisp bite of Fish N Chips.. yumm is the word..

IMG_6371

Big Barrack Chicken Burger: This was a father of all burgers, huge in size, delightful to look at and awesome to taste. Loaded with chicken and veggies, with sauces dripping, this messy affair is something you will remember for a long time. Must try.

Chicken Sweet Corn Soup: A bowl of chicken sweet corn soup= happy me. This soup has been an all time favourite for me, and I wasn’t disappointed having it here at 38 Barracks as well.

Corn Tarts: A new addition in the menu, they should surely make it to your must try list, as they were really nice. The filling was good; the tarts were baked to perfection as well.

Chocolate Walnut Brownie: Chocolate is the other name of heaven for me, and by now if you follow my posts you would know that. One I am a big chocolate fan and second I am baker myself and hence very critical about bakery items and desserts. But this brownie was just right, perfectly done, gooey and fudgy, loaded with walnuts and topped with some vanilla ice-cream, and my mouth waters while writing this, so you know what I mean, it was delicious.

Baked Rasgulla Pie: A very innovative creation by chef Gautam, this was a true fusion dessert and I am sure it will be loved by one and all.. ok ok..exceptions are always there.. but by and large people will love it, at least I did and I recommend too.

This place also has an amazing range of Hukka flavors and will be a paradise for hukka lovers. They have flavours, which are very unique, and no other place in India has them so far, for example there was a Rice Pudding Flavored Hukka, which was really different and didn’t hurt the throat at all.
