Come festive season and Eros Hotel, Nehru Place is all geared up to usher in the new years in style. I was recently invited for a sneak peek to the celebrations at the hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. A giant Christmas Tree adoring the lobby, ginger bread house at the Tea Lounge and festive decoration all through the hotel set the mood right from the moment I stepped in.
The party arrangements were made at Empress of China, hotels oriental dining restaurant. The place had a large centre table set for a fine dining Christmas dinner, dim lights, loads of candles and a menu interestingly put on a Santa’s cap. It also an outdoor set-up, with ample festive lights, live singing , bar and snacks being served. It was a windy evening, but the charm of sitting outside could not be ignored. Coal stands were strategically placed to keep us warm.
Orange Mimosa was served as a welcome drink and it was amazing. Dimsums, Chicken Canopies, Salmon Rolls were being served as snacks. I personally loved the chicken canopies and dimsums. Also tried some Cold Cuts, Pita Platter and Chilli Paneer which were good too. Fun props were kept to indulge in some crazy photo opportunities. Live music added to the whole celebratory vibes and mingling with like minded friends is always a pleasure.
After chit chatting and enjoying the snacks and a couple of drinks, we moved inside for our fine dining 3 course. Mushroom Cappuccino along with Prawn Harissa, Chicken Tartare and Tandoori Raan Phyllo were served first. The Mushroom Cappuccino was delicious. Out of the starters platter, I loved Chicken Tartare and Raan Phyllo, they both were simply amazing. I didn’t like the prawn much.
For mains there was a choice of Lamb Loin, Rolled Lasagne and Indian Sea Bass. I settled for Rolled Lasagne although the Lamb Loin and Sea Bass both looked equally tempting and inviting. There was roasted Turkey as well to savour and which was just fabulous.
Deconstructed Plum Cake served for dessert was extremely delectable. I loved both the presentation and taste of the same.
Post dinner, a cheese platter along with Whisky and Wine was served and it had some amazing cheese variety I must say.
I loved the dinner, the festive vibes and overall ambience of the place and I am sure you will love it too. So keep Eros Hotel in mind as you plan your new year celebrations in this week. For me its always gonna be most special place.

It isn’t surprising that a sport that goes on for days, often without result, inspires this much writing. “A book is your best visiting card” says Author, Biker & Entrepreneur Kapil Pathare who launched his book “A Tall Order” which traces the cricketing careers of ten best cricketers from India in the last 25 years. The book is an account of a golden era in Indian cricket. A galaxy of stars descended on the cricket field , shone like never before and left us with over lasting memories. Each of these men brought laurels to India in their unique ways “The book echoes about the lives of 10 extra ordinary cricketers. Their contribution to the sport has made the country what it is today. Together these 10 cricketers have fashioned the fortunes of cricket in the country. We have never been as blessed as we have been in the last 25 years thanks to these gentlemen. This truly is the league of extraordinary gentlemen for Indian cricket because it has raised the standards of the sport in the country and gained the country enough respect worldwide. The book is dedicated to my late father Mr. Jaykumar Pathare”
Sanath Jayasurya says “I am so happy to be a part of this launch. A Srilankan cricketer who comes & launches a book which talks about ten cricket legends of the country & to really do this is overwhelming. I wish Kapil all the best for the book and his future“
“These cricketers have impacted lives of us all as they have carved out a niche for themselves in the cricketing landscape. These cricketers have been at the forefront of a revolution that has engulfed world cricket thanks to their achievements. The fact that cricket is still surviving as a sport is because of the impact these gentlemen have made on cricket and helped create an economy. This book hopes to do justice to the work put in by these gentlemen in front of our eyes in the last 25 years” says Kapil Pathare whose moto is plain and simple – Live Life every day as if it’s your last. No wonder, his enigmatic personality attracts people and the limelight wherever he goes.
Kapil Pathare has penned his success story not just by his sheer corporate skills but quite literally as an established author. His first book was ideated on a cricket pitch when he saw the Indian cricket team in a huddle “What if cricket and management can be interlinked. After all, cricket is more of a mind game and strategy sport. If one draws the right strategies from cricket, they can be used on the corporate pitch as well. More so, for budding entrepreneurs, start-ups and women in the corporate world who did not watch cricket but were really good at their management skills”
The book features- Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh, Virendra Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni. You can read the review here .

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated every year on 3rd December.
Proclaimed and promoted by the United Nations, this international observance is marked the world over to intensify efforts aimed at the sustained effective action with a view to improving the situation of persons with disabilities. The day was marked by a ‘walk to freedom‘ for 5000 persons with disability; organised by the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People in partnership with American India Foundation (AIF) at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate.
Celebrated with yellow and blue balloons, the colours of disability, it was a pleasant surprise to see the same colours worn by Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, National Spokesperson of the BJP. Also present was the Hon. Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Vijay Goel.
Shri Vijay Goel praised the four para-lympians who won at the Rio Olympics earlier this year and saluted the spirit of para-athletes.
Coming straight to the point, he warmed the hearts of the 5000+ people gathered at the event, by speaking about the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill which is scheduled to be considered for discussion and passing in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, 5th December. He said, “ I will not only talk to my own party members but also across party lines for the smooth passage of the bill.”
Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament, and the Chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) assured her commitment towards accessibility and inclusion. She expressed, “ I support the passage of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill. Monday will be a day of celebration for all of us and not just persons with disabilities if the Bill gets passed.”
Other dignitaries present at the celebration included Shri Zorin Singha, President; Shri A.S. Narayanan, Secretary, National Association of the Deaf and Shri Javed Abidi, Honorary Director, NCPEDP.
Says Javed Abidi, “I was hoping that the Bill would be passed yesterday. It would have been a gift to the disabled community from the Indian parliament. We look forward to the 5th, and I would like to thank the 5000 + crowd that has turned up here today. I also congratulate all the performers who put up a great show.”
For India which is home to over 70 million people with disabilities, with few rights, few entitlements, and even fewer opportunities, this day assumes a greater significance, creating visibility and awareness on the issues faced by people with different disabilities before a larger audience.
This year, has special significance. It is not only the 20th year of NCPEDP, but also
1. It is the 10th anniversary year of United Nations-CRPD – the first human rights convention concerning persons with disabilities.
2. It is the first anniversary of the adoption of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the accompanying 17 SDGs which have provided for a disability inclusive development agenda for the first time.
3. 3rd December 2016 also formally marks the first anniversary of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s flagship ‘Accessible India Campaign’ or ‘Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan’ which has brought the issue of accessibility outside the disability discourse into the public realm in India.

Session 3 namely Creating one stop shop-“Making Food in India & Ease of doing Business” was addressed by Mr Atul Chaturvedi, Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy n Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Multiple government departments issue licenses for the same project often over lapping each other. A real role model for any budding entrepreneur.
I also got a chance to get clicked with the legendary Ms Nita Mehta and she came across as a very warm person. She also shared a beautiful message for all aspiring chefs.
The last session “Going Beyond Borders” With Celebrity Chefs Ranveer Brar and Vicky Ratnani was a really enjoyable one with their most candid comments. Everyone at the event was waiting for this finale of the conclave and looking forward to their interaction with these both celebrity chefs. Ranveer as usual had his answers ready for everything with a heavy dose of wit in them, while Vicky was at his intellectual best. I also got a chance to get clicked with my favourite chefs.
All in all a wonderful Conclave. Kudos to FICCI for organizing it and bringing forth the problems of this ever-expanding industry to the fore. The Conclave also had lunch catered by The Embassy, New Delhi.
Cocktails and Dinner was followed at the end of the conclave. I am really grateful to Vickrham and Foodmaniacs for making me a part of this amazing journey of learning about the food industry and a chance to rub shoulders with who is who of the food world.

Keeping in mind, the hectic lifestyle of today’s youth and adults, it has become extremely difficult to maintain one’s health. Upon seeing this, they will be introducing two main attractions to this edition’s Diabetic Food Trail- 1) Diabetic Masterclasses 2) Diabetic Fitness Bootcamps. The Diabetic Masterclasses will help individuals understand the ingredients, nutritional values, read packaging labels, learn exciting recipes which will help elevate the eating habits of diabetics without compromising on taste. These masterclasses will be held by renowned nutritionists and chefs across the 5 cities. With special focus on getting fit, the Diabetic Fitness Bootcamps tailored for diabetics will be conducted by fitternity.com
Held at the Hyatt Place, Gurugram the first Diabetic Masterclass event saw their executive chef Gautam share some interesting recipes incorporating the new range of Nutrichoice biscuits launched by Britania, keeping in mind the diabetic consumer.
The focus was to introduce you the diabetic or health conscious consumer to different recipes to fulfill their craving for sweets without running the risk of consuming sugar.
It was a really innovative and commendable effort by the chef, and I think overall its a great initiative.
As Seema Pinto – Director, Semora Entertainment Works and the brain behind this initiative said, “The focus of the second edition is on Diet and Fitness in effective Diabetes management. For a person with diabetes, eating nutritious and well-balanced meals with a regular fitness routine is vital in managing diabetes. This applies to pre-diabetics and the health conscious too”
Really a very thoughtful idea. The Masterclass held by Executive Chef Gautam was a treat to watch and a great learning curve for the ignorant as he touched upon various myths associated with consumption of sugar based sweets and it’s general intake in day to day life. All in all a nice learning experience specially for those associated with this dreaded ailment.
Neha Motwani, Founder – Fitternity.com, seemed very happy about partnering with the Diabetic Food Trail, this year. She said, “DFT is a great platform that enables users to experience healthy eating and manage diabetes in a fun and sustainable manner. We are excited to partner with the Semora team to introduce a never-experienced-before initiative that combines fun, food, fitness into one trail!”
The Diabetic Food Trail will continue to showcase special diabetic friendly menus across participating restaurants. The menus are engineered to be under a specific calorific meter with the help of chefs and acclaimed nutritionists from the country. Some of the restaurant favourites will also make it to these menus and these dishes will be reengineered to suit the requirements of diabetics.
Also for those who miss their sugar dose, the Diabetic Food Trail will also introduce a special Diabetic Dessert Trail which will allow diabetic patrons to sinfully indulge in a guilt free manner in their favourite dessert. The dessert found on this trail will use no processed sugars. I am already looking forward to be a part of this and I hope this initiative a kind thought reaches new heights sooner so that even the diabetic people can enjoy regular food and desserts guilt free.

Post the Prime Minister’s revelation on 8th November regarding the new currency policy, Palate & Imagine Fest has been rescheduled to 10th – 12th of February, 2017. The Authorities behind the festival have arrived at this decision after in-depth internal discussion and strongly felt that it would not be fair to the participants and partners owing to enforcing a cash withdrawal limit.
In spite of being completely prepared to mount the festivals, the promoters of Palate & Imagine Fests felt deeply compelled to arrive at this decision considering the recent development and to ensure success to the concerned parties.
