Designer Ridhima Bhasin opens her flagship store in South Extension!

Ridhima Bhasin recently hosted the launch of her maiden flagship store at South Extension part one. Bustling with fashion enthusiasts, her spring summer collection was received with a lot of awe. Inspired by iconic shapes of Moroccan architecture, the majestic inverted domes, slender minarets, intricate and spell binding jali windows and moorish lamps. the word Lucidus invokes a feeling of light, brightness and clarity that reflects in the ensemble. The collection encapsulates this feeling and mood well with beautiful circular skirts, slender pants, sheer blouses in ivory, apricot, sage green and vanilla hues.

Delicate thread embroideries with hand crafted tassels and hints of silver and moonlit embellishments amalgamate to create this spring summer collection.

The designs strike the right balance between contemporary and conservative with focus on magical cuts and flattering silhouettes.

Ridhima Bhasin is a young and talented fashion designer best known for her contemporary styling of Indian dresses. Ridhima Bhasin was born and bought up in Delhi, absorbing the diverse art culture, architecture and heritage only to find her falling for fashion designing every single day. She further got inspired by her sister Ritika Bhasin, who owns her very own fashion label. Being a part of her sister’s workshop, understanding fabrics and embellishments finally made her decide she had to pursue fashion as a career. Ridhima attended the London College of Fashion and got specialized with all the technical skills while studying Design and Merchandising there. After her graduation in the summer of 2010 she got back to India and started assisting her sister, Ritika Bhasin’s label. She got a chance to enhance her skills, work ethics and designing skills for 3 years. Finally In 2014, with her passion to bring her contemporary chic designs to the Indian market, she introduced her label ‘Ridhima Bhasin’.

Many bollywood celebrities adorn her designer wear and her collection is also available in international markets like Dubai, Indonesia, London and New York, making her one of the youngest Indian Fashion Designer to be successfully retailing her designer wear worldwide.

For me it was a pleasure meeting her personally and checking her collection out.

Day 2 at Asian Designer Week

The 2nd day of the Asian Designer Week was ruled by the NextGen Fresh Talent and NextGen Fashionpreneurs who exhibited vibrant and vivid ensembles that kept the audience hooked throughout the day. The highlights of the show included designers from Bangladesh, Srilanka & Singapore.

The second day of the Asian Designer Week Season 4 opened with NextGen Fresh Talent (Students) wherein ten very innovative and interesting designers showcased their out-of-the-box creativity and design concepts that caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts and designers from across the country. Hrishitaa Bhatt walked the ramp for the designer Nidhi Mehra (Aahana’s) who showcased scintillating combinations and hues, the collection was ideal for any occasion. Acid attack fighter, Ms. Ritu Saini also walked the ramp for designer Disha Chadha. From a wide range of designers to myriad ideas, inspiration, and a blend of age-old traditional craftsmanship with contemporary, futuristic forward designs, the Day 2 of the Asian Designer Week was a significant event for the fashion industry. Promoting PM Modi’s ‘Make In India’ campaign, many designers incorporated India’s traditional fabrics and handlooms in their collection giving a glimpse of the rich Indian heritage.

I visited in the evening and first collection that I witnessed was by Veronica by Meenu Mehra and Varsha Sethi.

VERONICA by Meenu Mehra

The collection showcased customized & weaved fabrics using the techniques of jacquard that created the dual lighter and darker effect of the dye.

The collection that truly caught my eye was Aahana’s by Nidhi Mehra, beautiful colours and delicate cuts made the entire collection look very very feminine and chic.

Aahana’s by Nidhi Mehra was born as a concept 3 years ago with Nidhi’s first designer studio being launched and operated in Noida. Nidhi’s collection has been showcased and appreciated across 20 leading national and international fashion shows and events. Taking inspiration from the feminine passion with the bold yet ethnic apparels, each piece of the designer collection AAHANA’S by Nidhi Mehra couture represented class apart from combining beauty and confidence seamlessly together. With scintillating combinations and hues, the collection is an ideal wear for any occasion. Hrishitaa Bhatt sizzled the ramp as the showstopper for the talented designer.

She has been an active participant in various global business summits and has recently won the coveted ET Brand Award 2017 at the ET Global Business Summit 2017 in New Delhi. Over these last 3 years, through her passion and innate creative skills, Nidhi Mehra has made a huge mark in the fashion industry by bringing about a paradigm shift in outlook of the opinion leaders from the fashion fraternity.

India Runway Week Season 8- Season of Gold, Shimmer and Cuts

Following India Runway Week and being a part of since almost 2-3 years, I can easily say that each year, it takes you to another level. Its definitely a growth story worth mentioning and Kiran Kheva has surely put in a lot of efforts to take it where it today is.

A mix of ace designers and some upcoming wonders, it was a perfect mix of fashion showcasing and also there were a lot of engaging activities for the audience to indulge in. Fashion shuttle was one such interesting activity, a person could go to the fashion shuttle, get dressed in designer wear, get a makeover done and then also get a photo shoot done, I mean it was a great idea. Then also there was a small exhibition area where in all the participating designers exhibited their collection and got the women drooling.

Also season 8 was really high in the shimmer and cuts when it comes to the designer wear showcased by designers. Gold as a colour flew all over and yet this all shimmer had a sense of class and elegance. It was gold and glitter but without being jazzy.

This season at Inda Runway Week redefined metallic, glitters. With color and shimmer being in focus for this season we need to watch out must haves for your wardrobe straight from the India Runway Week season 8 held recently.

Tisharth by Shivani– Tisharth by Shivani Jain brings GOLDEN SUMMER DREAM which is the colour of the sun and Golden are the dreams we weave, golden is the color of goddess and is considered as pious and sacred. Big Boss contestant Nitibha Kaul walked the ramp for the Delhi based designer.

Crmson by Nancy Sood– CRMSON by Nancy Sood collection emphasis on the women who glows in every shade ,diligent and conscientious towards a minutest responsibility, dedicated and devoted in all spheres, navigating her way through time for her to believe that she deserves to maintain her peace without any slightest hesitation.

Priyamvada Dalmia– Priyamvada Couture,’ was born from the deep desire to cater to young, confident women, who define fashion on their own terms. Bollywood Actress Mugdha Godse walked the ramp for Priyamvada. Focusing on Indian Ethnic Wear, this label curate pieces inspired from her own fashion sense and her role models from among the beaming fashion industry.

Clotho INDIA– Clotho showcased unputdownable collection with a pastel palette, nature inspired handwork and embellishments, recoloring nature in different hues and shades. They kept an involvement of translucent textiles with structural as well as falling silhouettes. Their Clothing line is the extension of one personality, not making it a trend but a part of a woman wearing it.

Ritambhara Paliya– Known for Luxury contemporary Indian wear, Ritambhara Paliya is a noted name in Indian Fashion Fraternity, whose hands are well skilled in designing outfits for women of all ages. Ritambhara Paliya specializes in Evening gowns, lehengas, Anarkali’s and maxi dresses and also into fairytale and destination weddings attires that are rooted in quintessentially Indian sensibilities but with the modern twist.

Pooja Peshoria– Pooja Peshoria showcased her fresh and glamorous summer collection ‘The Beauty of Reflection’ at the India Runway Week 2017. Inspired by the natural reflections which illuminate the ocean’s surface, the collection was strong and opulent yet fluid and feminine. Designed for the determined woman of today there was a blend of forward modernity yet rooted with traditional elegance and detailing.

Harkiran Basra– His prime focus was on bridal couture with off-shoulder blouses. Her collection had brocades and sequined dupattas. Her collection surely is a must have especially the dupattas, they were gorgeous.

Designer Mithi Kalra Launches her all new ‘Moonlight Collection’. Her collection is a spectacular sight to behold with her playing with the captivating designs in all white ethereal look. Moonlight basically transpires from the cosmos, which is a like a distant, beautiful space for her as the charm of moon stands almost unparalleled from ages. Through this collection, Kalra has made an effort to not only bring about the wondrous peaceful serenity and tranquillity of the universe but has also consciously tried her best to revive the monochrome trend in a novel avatar, like never before as she clearly believes in giving the style its due.

This year Ikreate had a chance to be the blogging partner for the day 3 of the event and it truly was an opportunity worth all the effort. My special thanks for Kiran and Surabhi, from Media Maniacs for bestowing me with this chance and I really look forward to the next season and more healthy associations.

What’s New in 2017- Luxury Brands Offer Hot Discounts.. Check This Out To Know More..

With the fast increasing economy driving the upward trend of spending habits and capacity, on fashion in particular, we indians have become more aspirational ever since we started becoming brand conscious. But access to luxury labels has remained limited to only a few. Many can’t afford it while others residing in non-metro cities don’t have access to stores by such brands. Priya Lakhanpal from Gurgaon has founded The Best Price Show (TBPS) to facilitate the pockets of all such aspirational consumers with luxury labels through 16 countrywide pop-up store festivals in the coming year.

“When it comes to shopping, most Indians love to strike a hard bargain and prefer to shop where they can negotiate a good discount on a product or service. The upmarket labels being offered at discount upto 75% will definitely be something a lot us have been secretly wishing for,” ends Priya with a laugh.

With Delhi and Mumbai, TBPS also plans to penetrate Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad among other cities since spending on fashion has spread much beyond just tier 1 cities into tier 2 and 3 cities as well. The elite class of our country is expected to grow from current 10 million to 26 million households by 2025. And according to the Top of the Pyramid 2015 report by Kotak Wealth Management, 44 percent of India’s multi-millionaires live outside metros. But lack of efficient retail spaces and low ROI values in non-metro regions discourage luxury labels to set up infrastructure there. TBPS, through its innovative model of “bridge to luxury” will help facilitate both the brands with access to a ready customer base as well bring these labels within buying capacity of consumers from such regions. “We understand that demand is primarily driven by price. Hence, I am sure our exhibitions will be in demand in non-metros as well,” shares a confident Priya.

In a scenario where retail ventures lead to a high value to be paid for stock holding and wastage, TBPS promises to offer them a new revenue stream by helping liquidate their excess stock which they have to clear off the shelves to give space to the new season’s collection, offering it on a discount with a “get it while it lasts” urgency. Along with ethnic haute couture, the pop-up stores will also feature other luxury products as well as pret culture as we have already begun to see the launch of ready-to-wear labels by designers of the likes of Tarun Tahiliani, Anita Dongre, Manish Arora as they eye India’s growing generation of young, successful and fashion-conscious millennials.

Since all luxury brands pamper their customers with an overall experience of the look and feel of the apparels coupled with an inviting store ambience, buying from such brands is a part of that experience. TBPS will allow them to communicate the brand’s promise to their customers through the use of a unique and tech-enabled physical environment to create an immersive shopping experience suited to the image of such labels. The shows will be a host to Virtual Reality shopping experience, personal styling recommendation from brands in addition to trial rooms, a cafe cum lounge area and high-tech kids’ play area.

Leveraging on her experience in luxury fashion and success in her earlier venture Hunkydori Styles Pvt. Ltd, Priya looks forward to open the door of TBPS in the capital for its first one day show “Store 1 – New Delhi” on 29th April 2017.

About the company: Founded in August 2016, The Best Price Show (TBPS) is a subsidiary brand of Hunkydori Styles Pvt. Ltd. owned by Priya Lakhanpal. The company currently has its head office in Gurgaon. For more information, visit www.thebestpriceshow.com.

Pooja Bhutani’s signature collection for the label represents old world elegance combined with the latest global trends.
While Elysian Desire focuses on the design content Pooja’s creativity brings in a purist approach to the Label.

An insight into Pooja’s approach towards her newly launched enterprise Elysian Desire was very heartening to note. She wants to dress up women irrespective of their shape or size. She has a very simplistic approach that no matter your body shape or size every woman has the right and deserves to dress up. She infuses confidence that you dress up well and look good. The mantra is to believe in yourself and carry yourself with confidence. Let the world go take a walk just dress up for yourself and feel good about it because that’s what matters most. Great thought. Great attitude. Here is a sneak peek from her collection.

An interesting point I picked up talking to Akash Das is that he always clicks with hand held camera be it fashion photography or wild life.Wild life photography involves cameras weighing six to eight kgs. He never uses tripod for them. He has another very fascinating side to his photography. While shooting he clicks non-stop without even once looking down to see in the view finder. He believes that the one split second when you tend to look down may cost you a frame which you should have actually captured and I completely agree with him. He simply carries every click back to his studio, views them and only then discards what he feels is not right. No wonder people call him a genius.

I think and hope the joining together of one zealous entrepreneur and a genius photographer will bring us a really breathtaking Calendar. To add the glamour, Surbhi, a well known make up artist and hair stylist is also on the panel. We had a pleasant evening spending time with these maestros at Frat House, Hauz Khas Village, where this exclusive pre-launch meet was organised.
We wish the venture all the best and a huge success.
