CHEF IN A BOX (CIAB) is a new concept to re-create chef style dishes at home with the help of professional chefs themselves. The idea is conceptualized and curated by Gayatri Iyer, a young dynamic entrepreneur, who wants to express her love for food. The concept is one step ahead of the online delivery of ordering cooked food right at your doorsteps.
The idea helps consumers to order recipe kits that include all the measured ingredients and clear steps of instructions for cooking. The USP is that it comes directly from a Chef/restaurant’s kitchen to ensure authenticity and quality of the ingredients, so the Chefs do the shopping for you (literally!). Currently the market space that Chef In A Box caters to is Delhi-NCR (currently delivering in South Delhi, West Delhi and Gurgaon).  It aims at giving people a chance to cook exotic dishes such as Khao Suey, Mutton Kosha and Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins to name a few, just like the experts. They have the flexibility to simply follow the instructions or use their creativity to add some twists to the recipe.

“I want to change the way people look at food and break the monotony of eating pre-cooked food or takeout. People do love to cook and I want to give them a seamless experience in doing so by giving them everything they need (well almost, they would still need the cooking appliances etc.” says, Gayatri Iyer, Chief Creator and Owner, Chef In A Box.
The popularity of the concept of recipe kits in the US gave the window for the concept to grow and to bring this to India. The twist in this idea of not having your own kitchen but relying on the Chef’s, restaurant’s kitchen and expertise. Gayatri Iyer is a multifaceted dynamic young person and is currently the Chief Creator and owner of the platform whose love for creativity only exceeds her love for food by a small bit. One may think that in order to be in the food industry, you would either have a Godfather or be associated with food in terms of being a Chef or baker. But, none of that holds true for her. She was in a plush corporate job with American Express for 5 years, surrounded by the fanciness, which a corporate has to offer but that was just one part of her life. Chef in a box recently organized a healthy baking workshop at Taste Sutra, Lajpat Nagar. Baker Tanya Gupta of Whisk a Wish curated the whole session and shared some of her most amazing baking recipes.
It was a very casual session, where in some food enthusiasts gathered for their love of baking as well as healthy food. The ambience of Taste Sutra was just perfect, it’s a very beautifully done place and taste sutra organizes curated meals, food walks etc. on their own as well, the whole concept being meeting for the love of food, and cooking and enjoying food together.


Coming to the workshop, the first recipe shared by Tanya was of a healthy chocolate loaf. The chocolate loaf contained no sugar and no butter, sugar was replaced by honey and for the moistness of cake, and a very surprising element was added. I could never imagine that adding Zucchini was also possible in a cake, and that too in such a way that it didn’t affect the overall taste at all. It surely was a great recipe and I am going to try out very soon.

The next were oatmeal crackers and they were best out of the lot. A very simple recipe served with a simple dip made with hung curd; this dish became everyone’s favorite instantly.

Last but not the least, there were Orange Cinnamon Whole Wheat Cookies and they turned out to be super amazing. A very easy to bake simple recipe made with simple ingredients that are easily available at home.


I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop and hope Chef In A Box organizes more of such kinds.

As a goodwill gesture, Chef In A Box also sent one of their special boxes, I chose Mutton Keema box, which came packed with all the ingredients and chef’s recipe to prepare the same. It was great fun to prepare the Keema as per the given ingredients and directions and it turned out really awesome. It’s a great thing for those who don’t want to get into the hassle of buying all the ingredients to prepare a single dish or those who just want to try something new for the first time. Punam Chadha Joseph Launches Her Maiden Book of Poems- The Soulful Seeker

“Sometimes lost, sometimes found,
Sometimes silly, sometimes sound,
Sometimes straight, sometimes round..
Oh, the circle of Life.. ever so profound”
These lovely lines can only come from a poet who has experienced life very deeply, and is well aware of both lighter and darker sides of it. Punam Chadha Joseph, who recently released her first poetry book called ‘The Soulful Seeker’, writes these lovely lines and in a simple way presents the life in a nutshell.
The book launch event was held at an upcoming restaurant ‘The Lord of the Drinks at Epicuria, Nehru Place and it saw coming together of whose who of the Delhi social circle and also renowned Bollywood celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Kabir bedi and Yuri Suri.

The beautifully curated acts recitals by Anil Kapoor, Kabir Bedi, Yuri Suri, Maya Sami, Vivienne Pocha accompanied by the talented pianist composer Merlyn D’Souza brought alive the experience that the book of poems has to offer.
The Ageless man, Anil Kapoor recited the excerpts from the poem titled ‘Ageing’ from the book and his energy was something to watch out for. He is a live wire and it was just amazing to watch him recite this light hearted yet very soulful poem.
Some lines from the poem go..
“From being youngest in the room,
now I’m at times the oldest around,
accepting the brilliance of today’s youth,
it’s not an easy reality to accept,
since mentally I’m still sound”

Vivienne Pocha, Merlyn D’Souza and Kabir Bedi, gave voice and harmony to ‘Let’s Rise’, an emotive poem that revisits the 26/11 terror strikes on Mumbai.  It truly was a poem that gives you goose bumps.




Overall the book is a mix of some lighthearted poems and some very deep and philosophical.

How would you feel, if I tell you that it is going to snow in Delhi all year round..!! Excited isnt it.. Yesss.. I too was damn excited when I knew that this April, Ski India, the indoor sci-fi themed snow park announced its grand launch at DLF Mall of India, Noida.

I got all geared up and entered this snow park, the first impression was really very unique, I felt as if I am in some science fiction movie. The ambience was perfect, snow clad ground, snow clad objects, reindeers, and Orri and Orran.

As I started exploring the place, I more and more fell in love with it. The idea of snow, snow based activities like Skiing, Ice Skating, Sledge, were so exciting and now experiencing them right in the summers of Delhi, was a pure bliss.


It surely is a place for families, more people, more fun. Without spilling a lot of details, all I wanna say is, do grab your tickets as soon as the snow park opens its door for public, and experience a new world. The only thing you will not like is coming out of it to the scrotching heat of Delhi.
