We all know that homes can be expensive. Not only do they cost a lot to buy, but they will always find a way to suck up your money on maintenance and spruces. And it’s unlikely to change. So, it’s always good to get in the frame of mind of having money available to invest in your home. It’s not easy, but it can definitely be worth it. You should also have some kind of backup financial plan in place too, should you ever need it. But, enough about the formalities, it’s time to think about that soon-to-be stunning home of yours.

When you want your house to look its best, you can often set your set a bit of a home maintenance to-do list. And most of the time, that list grows longer by the day. Although you could get around to fixing up and improving almost every part of your house, it’s important to realize that it will take time. And money! So, instead of on focusing on a huge list of all the things that you want to upgrade, you’re going to want to hone in on the most important. By pulling together a smaller list, you’ll be able to make a big difference with smaller efforts. So, let these home improvements give you food for thought for your savings list.

Your Dream Kitchen

When you ask anyone what their favorite room in the house is, they often all say the kitchen. There’s just something about it that we all love. Whether it’s because it is the heart of the home, or somewhere that we spend a lot of time, everyone wants a kitchen that they love. So, when you feel like passionate about a room, and you spend a lot of time in it, definitely add it to the top of your list. Although it’s tempting to remortgage or get a large loan for renovations, it may feel more rewarding to wait it out and save instead.

A Stunning Outside Space

Your home improvements definitely don’t need to be limited to the inside of your home. Because sometimes, it’s the changes that you make outside that can make all of the difference. If you like to spend a lot of time in the garden, you may dream of having a space that you can really enjoy. So, it might be time to take a look at some landscaping ideas and figure out how much you need to save.

A Comfier Bed

What could be better than a good night’s sleep? If you find that the bed you have just isn’t cutting it, you should definitely think about putting some money away and making an upgrade. Having a comfortable bed and mattress is essential if you want to sleep well. So it’s definitely worth the investment. Never underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep!

Smarter Systems

Next up, you may also want to think about some of the essential systems that you have in your home. It may be the case that when you’re renting, you don’t have to fork out for new things when they break, but when you own your own home, you get to upgrade to the best by choice. Sometimes, a new water or heating system or smarter electrics can really make a difference to your standard of living.

Updating The Decor

Then there’s the simple yet oh so effective idea of updating your decor. When it comes to your home, you may feel that some of the rooms are outdated. But, if you’re able to add a lick of paint and replace the flooring, you may find that you’re much happier with the home that you have created.

Adding In More Bathrooms

Or, you may want to put some money away for more bathrooms. If you only have a master, or one and a half baths, you may want to think about the ways that you can change that. Because sometimes, only one loo won’t do. It can not only improve your standard of living to have more bathrooms at home but also the value of your house too. So an en suite here and a new suite there could make all the difference.

Creating A Show-Stopping Space

Sometimes, the way that you can be the most excited about saving for an addition to your home is to go with something different and creative. If you love to read, adding a library room in your house could be the perfect idea for you. Or, maybe it would be a theater or a gym? Regardless of what the room will be, adding in something that boosts your lifestyle is always a great idea. You work hard, so why not?

Home Emergencies

On to more practical ideas, you may also want to consider having security when it comes to home emergencies. Although it’s a nice idea to have savings for spruces, sometimes you will need that money for emergency situations. When your boiler breaks or your electrics need re-writing, solutions like Personal Money Store are one option, but having savings behind you always helps. Because we all know the unexpected can happen, so it’s best to be prepared.

Expansion Plans

Another key practicality to consider if the size of your home or the space that you have it – especially in comparisons to the size of your family. If you’re looking to expand your family anytime soon, you may want to extend your home too. When you love your home, you don’t always want to move, so you should think about having a pot of money for when the time comes.

Conversion Plans

Finally, an alternative to that would be to think about a conversion. If you have no room to extend your property outwards, you may want to think about doing it inwards. If you have an unconverted basement or attic space, it could be a great idea to convert either or both into a new living space. But to do that, you will need to save up a little money or find a financial source suitable to your needs.

InLiving at India Design ID

As we all know India Design Expo is one of the most talked about exhibitions when it comes to interiors and furniture. The brand that participate in ID are a level above then the rest. The moment you walk through the pavilion, you get awe struck by many such brands and one such collection was by InLiving.

InLiving uses the art of handcrafting to add a personal touch, and offer unmatched finesse and style. At the India Design 2017 decoration pavilion, there was a display of innovative products and novel designs by InLiving. Their new collection, by the in-house designer’s team, included wooden wall art, wooden panels & dividers and cabinets that drew a lot of eyeballs to the booth.

The idea behind designing of this collection was to perk up the living spaces by throwing in some playfulness by way of colors, textures, shapes to break away from the monotony. InLiving used reclaimed wood to make the stunning wall arts and weaving has been used for making the wall arts in combination with textile.

They wanted to play with different materials and get the new innovative look created for the wall art and cabinets. Therefore, InLiving introduced the combination of textile and wood to give a mother’s touch to the furniture. They pulled out some basic materials like cotton recycled yarns, outdoor yarns, denim, leather labels lying dormant from the surroundings and used their imagination to explore vibrant fusion pieces.

This assembling is a testament to their creative instinct and out of the box thinking. Cross stitch work on the wooden panels has been done to stay close to our urban style & add graphic style in living spaces. These innovative designs of Wall art, cabinets and wooden panels blends beautifully with various aesthetic sensibilities. I happen to meet Ms Pallavi Gupta, the woman behind InLiving and it was a pleasure knowing all these details first hand from her.

India Design ID 2017- Creativity at next level..!!

India Deign ID, is one exhibition that I look forward to every year, It really satiates my need to witness some creativity live, and OMG what creativity. This exhibition truly is an abode of creativity, so many designers, so many exquisite showcases under one roof that one cant help but keep staring and admiring the collection. The exhibition that helps create a new generation of creative and business-based talent factories to help fuel the design economy of the country, India Design ID recognises and celebrates designers and creativity from diverse disciplines in designing – interiors, product design, architecture and installations.

The event comprised of three verticals – ID Exhibit, ID Symposium and ID Satellite. This collaboration aims to bring together the design community to share their experiences, knowledge and aesthetics through exhibitions, installations and discussions.

Commenting on the initiative, Gaurav Mashruwala, CEO, Ogaan Media Pvt. Ltd. says, “This year we celebrate 5 years of India Design ID and over this time period, it has not only become the country’s premier design celebration but has very effectively changed the definition of good design & architecture in India.

ID EXHIBIT is an exhibition space that showcased the finest in home decoration, with high-end brands and designers unveiling their latest collections. This year, India Design ID presented themed pavilions, namely Decoration, Decoration I, Decoration II, Design and Trends. Housed within the Decoration Pavilion being the best in décor, the Trends Pavilion presented the Colour Next trend forecasts for 2017, and the Design Pavilion showcased the talents of designers and design labels.

The Decoration Pavilion included established names such as Arttd’inox, Apartment9, Antonio Lupi, Beyond Designs, K2India, Roca, BoConcept, Sarita Handa, The Pure Concept and Rational Kitchens by CJ Living to name a few.

Apartment 9 had breathtakingly beautiful interiors and was truly a class apart. Those who seek luxury and opulence, this is the brand that should be remembered.

Next I was awestruck, when I saw the statement chairs and dining table display by Kanika Bawa, must compliment the knowledge and vision the lady holds. I got a chance to personally interact with her and know more about her collection, and it would be an understatement to say that I was extremely impressed.

Her candy floss collection was no less than an ensemble cast, we see in movies, or we see in our own families when we look deep down. Every family has that man of the family, the father, the simple yet the strongest character, mother, the book lover, the drama queen, the fashionista, the gamer and the love dove couple to name a few, and her chairs of the dining table reflected each of these characters with great simplicity and design. It was a treat to watch this collection and I am sure that I am myself going to add a couple of chairs to my home and dedicate them to my family members.

K2 India and BoConcept were the other two pavilions that I admired a lot and so was the collection by Sarita Handa

The Trend Pavilion featured designer interpretations of the colour trends forecast for 2017. Asian Paints announced intense blue as their Colour Next 2017 forecasts at the event to supplement the efforts of creating awareness and backing the design intent of India Design ID 2017. There was also a third Decoration pavilion which is an addition to India Design ID 2017 which featured new exhibitors namely, 2R Italian Design, Alex Davis, Casa Medici/Golden Locks, iGuzzini/LSI, Intersekt, Italian Trade Agency, Ora Mosaic

ID Symposium, which seeks to inspire the design fraternity in India, and also offer a networking opportunity to build relationships within the industry. ID Symposium featured engaging speakers from different walks of life, such as Alberto Alessi, Humberto Campana, Sou Fujimoto, Ashiesh Shah, Sanjay Puri, Alberto Meda, Li Edelkoort to name a few.

ID Satellite, the hip offsite vertical discovers design districts of Delhi with promotions, collaborations and events across different venues through week long festivities at design districts like Lado Sarai, Meharchand Market, Shahpur Jat, Defence Colony, and MG Road with new additions at Khan Market and Greater Kailash which will have the capital buzzing with design. The participating venues will feature design-linked activities across lifestyle stores, restaurants, malls, bookshops, galleries, select public/private locations, with an explosion of launches, new collections, cocktails, previews, reviews and special events.

The event saw over 40,000 visitors, from the design trade as well as design-conscious consumers and I already look forward to the next season.
