If you are keen to try and make sure that you are as healthy as possible, your diet is always one of the most important things to think about. As long as you eat well, in general you will feel well, and you’ll just be a lot healthier on the whole. A good diet can often be the difference between general overall health and wellbeing, and the complete opposite of that.
With that in mind, you might want to know what the healthiest diets are, and when it comes to this there are certainly a few in particular that you might want to be aware of. Let’s take a look right now at some of the genuinely healthiest diets out there. You might be surprised about some of these, while others might be diets you have always wanted to try but never got around to.
Mediterranean
The Mediterranean diet is a great one to consider, largely because it is not only very healthy in many ways, but also – for most people, at least – truly delicious. A Mediterranean diet generally consists of seasonal, local produce, which is always something you want to aim for if you are trying to be healthy. Some of the signature foods of this diet are fruits of all kinds, vegetables and leafy greens, whole grains and legumes, nuts and plenty of olive oil – which is one of the healthiest fats out there. There are also the occasional white meat and fish dishes too. This diet is great for cardiovascular health and losing weight, as well as working against diabetes.
Paleo
There are a lot of differing opinions around the Paleo diet, but it is very healthy in many ways. The Paleo diet generally focuses largely on foods that existed before the agricultural and farming revolution, so that obviously means that you are going to be eating a lot of whole foods most of the time. That is one of the best ways to eat, so you will have a lot of benefits as a result of this. A Paleo diet means you only eat something you could hunt or gather, and there is a lot of sense to be drawn from doing that kind of diet. What’s more, it is perfectly easy to eat a lot of amazing dishes this way, such as this paleo recipe for mahi mahi for example.
New Nordic
A lot of nutritionists really swear by this one, although there is a good chance that you have personally never heard of it. Scientists actually designed this diet to contain 35% less meat than the average Danish diet along with a lot of whole grains, and plenty of locally sourced produce. It contains over 75% organic produce, too. All of this makes for a very healthy diet indeed, but it is a slightly more difficult one to achieve as there is a lot of upkeep necessary to make it happen. However, if you can manage it, you’ll find you are incredibly healthy indeed.
Traditional Asian
Although there are a lot of unhealthy habits in some modern Asian diets, the traditional Asian diet is still one of the best for you in the world. Generally, it consists of a lot of rice, noodles, and whole grains, as well as plenty of fruits and vegetables in a wide range. All of that means that you will get all of the nutrients and minerals you need, and the fish and shellfish also helps with protein, amino acids and so on too. There are very few red meats and almost no desserts – so this might not be for someone with a sweet tooth!
Keto
There is some debate about the Keto diet and just how healthy it really is, but if you are keen to lose weight then it is certainly one you are going to want to think about. The Keto diet is all about high levels of fat compared to a low amount of protein and carbohydrates. It sounds strange, but it does actually work for losing weight – for the simple fact that, as you are eating fat and little else, you are able to burn fat more easily and hold less in the body. Clearly, that helps you to lose weight. The Keto diet is worth trying if you want to be slimmer.
Those are just some of the healthiest diets around, but they are some of the best out there, so they are certainly all worth considering. If you follow any of these, you should be able to improve your health.
