All In The Candy

Instead of spending hours trying to come up with the perfect gift for a special occasion or to brighten someone’s day, consider a gift basket. Most people enjoy getting candy, and you can use almost any kind of candy in a basket for any holiday, birthday, or even a retirement celebration. You can find candy gift baskets for all ages and genders, but make sure the person you’re getting the basket for isn’t allergic to things like nuts or other items that might be in the candies that are used.

A benefit of a candy basket is that you can make it as customized as you want depending on the occasion and who the gift is for, such as a child or someone who is older who might enjoy some of the elegant candies instead of the fun ones available. If you know someone who is in college or someone who is away from home for any reason, you can make or order a care basket with all types of candy that they enjoy. A box would be better for this gift instead of a basket so that it’s easier to ship to the recipient. You can put colored paper on top of the items as well as around the items to keep them secure. Make a basket of candies from a specific decade. Another option is to make baskets using candies that are all one color. If you want some of the items to stand up, then attach them to craft sticks using hot glue. For someone who is older, you could make a basket of decadent chocolates or smaller chocolates and candies that are easier to eat than some of the harder ones. Combine a few flowers with the basket for a woman or a few cigars for a man when you make a candy basket or once you get one that you order online.

On The Other Side: Gift Ideas For Wedding Guests

A wedding is an exciting time. Even as a guest, you get to enjoy the greatest day of a couple’s lives. And, this is a special thing indeed. Of course, a lot of people struggle with weddings. Knowing what to wear and how to act is hard enough. But, on top of this, you have to think of a suitable gift for the happy couple. In most cases, people will put out a list of things they would like. It doesn’t always hurt to stray from this list, especially if you can think of something they may have missed. To help you out with this, this post will be going through some of the different situations newlyweds could be in, and how you can find a gift to match. So, now, you just have to get out there and find the best example.

When getting married, people often make other key life choices. And, for the majority of people, becoming parents follows soon after getting married. In this sort of situation, people have a lot of new things they have to buy. And, you can help them out by taking some of the load. Prams, cribs, clothing, and toys are all very expensive together. But, buying one or two options could be enough to make a real difference. When doing this, it can be best to gender neutral items. This will avoid any complications if they baby turns out to be different to your expectations.

For some, having kids may still be in the future. But, there could still be a big change coming in their life. Often, people will move in together soon after they get married. Like having a child, moving to a new house comes with a time of great spending. So, helping them out with this could also be a great idea. Kitchen items are some of the best options to go for. These won’t be chosen for their looks. But, rather, you will choose them for their functions. This will avoid clashing with the styles they choose for themselves. A microwave or nice plate set could be perfect.

Some won’t have anything big on their horizon. Instead, they may have already moved in with one another and started their family. And, in this case, you will need to think of something else. Most people like to eat. Food is a traditional gift amongst many cultures. But, to get something like this right, you have to be prepared to do some research. Finding out which foods someone likes the most will take talking to their other friends and relatives. For example, talking to someone’s brother may help you to learn that they love cheese. In this case, you could look at some luxury cheese hampers for them. This sort of gift is quick and easy but will appear to be incredibly thoughtful. This is the sort of gift which can always be used. Everyone has a little something they love.

Choosing a gift for a newly married couple can be hard. But, with the right time and energy, you can find the perfect option for your friends. A lot of people simply buy something from the list. But, this is unimaginative and bland. Instead, you should be going for something which they will remember.

Inspire Yourself to Give a Gift With These Fun Ideas

For those of us that have a special occasion coming up, have you thought about what you’re getting as a gift yet? Be it a birthday, an anniversary, a seasonal holiday or something more light-hearted such as a friendly reunion, there are plenty of situations in life where we might think about buying a gift. Sadly, it usually turns into a few days of frustration and a lack of ideas, then we’ll cave in and get something generic like flowers, chocolates, a gift card or, even worse, nothing at all!

So to give you some excellent sources of inspiration, here are a couple of ways to prepare yourself for the next big event you have. Keep in mind that these are just ideas and you don’t have to resort to them every time, but they’re fantastic ways to gather inspiration so that you have an idea of what to buy in the future whenever you’re stumped for ideas.

Browse online stores

It doesn’t matter what store you look at. If you browse any online store and look at the most popular items that are being sold, you’ll be able to gather a lot of inspiration and get a lot of ideas for gifts. If you look up cool stuff to buy on Amazon, you’ll come across hundreds of different items that are suitable as gifts. Even if you search something like “gift ideas”, you’ll still find plenty of ideas and before you know it, you’ll have more choice than you imagined.

Look at personalised gifts

Something personal is always good as a gift. Be it a mug that has a special message on it or a customised greeting card to go with something you’ve already bought, customising a gift adds a wonderful touch to any ordinary gift. It can turn something dull and boring like a sweater into a memorable and cherished gift. That’s one of the most important things about gifting; if your recipient remembers a gift and associates it with a positive memory, then it’ll give them a nice boost of happiness that motivates them to work hard and stay positive throughout the day. A personalised gift can be something you make yourself, or it could be something made to order.

Speak to the recipient

If you want some ideas on what to buy your recipient, then look no further than the recipient themselves! Speak to them, ask them about their favourite musical artists, ask which films they like, or even ask what the latest book they read was. As long as you gather up information about your target, you’ll find it gets easier and easier to prepare a fantastic memorable gift for them. Just try not to give it away and let them know you’re planning to buy a gift for them. Speaking to your gift recipient is also a great way to ensure you don’t buy the same gift as someone else. It’s always worth having a chat before you spend money on something your recipient already has!

Artisera ; an online marketplace that is redefining boundaries..!!

Artisera is an online destination for ‘artistic luxury’ where one can discover and buy unique pieces of fine art, collectibles, home décor, and furniture from India and around the world
screen-shot-2016-10-24-at-10-53-52-am

People often associate the word ‘art’ with paintings, but we’re redefining those boundaries. To us, art means to fill up a space in a beautiful way. Our emphasis is to promote ‘fine art’ as a whole, including contemporary and modern art as well as traditional art forms, sculpture, and photography. And we believe art should extend to other elements of our home and personal spaces as well, such as furniture, tableware, rugs, décor and more” Says the co-founder of Artisera, Lisa Jain. She and her husband Varun Bakliwal launched www.artisera.com in October 2015. Since then, through their ‘invite-only’ market place model, they have managed to partner with over thirty of the most trusted and reputed stores, galleries, designers and artists across the country to house a mix of contemporary and traditional pieces for the discerning client.

screen-shot-2016-10-24-at-10-54-06-am

Every piece on the website is either one of a kind or limited edition. The fine art ranges from traditional tanjores to photography and sculptures. There are rare vintage collatables and curios along with porcelean pieces, tableware and lighting. Accent chairs and tables, consoles and cabinets with their unique flair are also part of the collcection.

burmese-gold-leaf-collages

Artisera works closely with its partners to curate the pieces you see on the website. If a client likes something listed on the platform, they can buy from it directly, and the order then gets fulfilled by the partners. They also cater to custom inquiries by clients; for e.g. if you’re looking for a specific style or piece, they will work with their partner network to try and source it. The partners include The Great Eastern Home, Balaji Antiques, Cocoon Fine Rugs, Jaipur Rugs, Sarita Handa, Essajees, PortsideCafé Furniture Studio, Vadehra Art Gallery, Kynkyny Art Gallery, Tasveer, Anemos and Navrathan Antique Arts to name a few.

Although there are many interesting online ventures in the aspirational or luxury fashion space, there isn’t any single platform that helps individuals discover exquisite, non-mass manufactured, unique art pieces in all its different forms, from the best brands in the business. And that’s what Artisera is doing. They are very clear in their focus, and are catering to a niche, defined audience. Their clients could be young or old, experienced or novice, living in a big city or a smaller town, but they are all looking for high quality pieces, with a story and a history.

vintage-ormulu-candle-stands

The curation is what really sets them apart. They want the experience on the website to be similar to when you walk into a store or gallery filled with beautiful pieces, admiring every creation, enjoying the sheer process of discovery. At Artesera they understand that the buying experience is critical in the luxury space. And that’s why, even though they are an online store, there is a significant offline element to the Artisera experience. They speak to each client personally, offer advisory services, host gatherings and events to offer a ‘touch and feel’ experience, and help clients with art appreciation. The range of Collectibles is unique and hard to find. Working with some of the most well-respected dealers/stores in this space, they’ve managed to curated some exceptional curios, rare porcelain pieces, and vintage collectibles, which appeal to seasoned collectors as well as those who are just starting out.

artistic-half-and-half-chair

Knowledge and information about different art forms is still limited. And it’s very important for someone to feel comfortable and informed before making a high value purchase. And this is why at Artisera they look beyond selling. Through relevant, high quality, interesting content, they help people develop an appreciation for artistic luxury.

“We also believe, that a luxury art and lifestyle business cannot be completely online. While many people will discover new ideas and sellers, buy products, and gain access to what is outside their city digitally, the touch and feel aspect will continue to be critical to some. And that’s why, we want to help our Partners not just with sales on Artisera, but also by driving more people to their physical stores, after being discovered online” Says Varun.

About the founders and their journey

Artisera has been founded by the husband-wife duo Varun Backliwal and Lisa Jain with a vision to create an international art-focused luxury brand.

Varun is the fourth generation of a family that is associated with the fine arts and handicrafts trade since 70+ years. After spending close to a decade in the family business, he completed his MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona. He then began working in the startup investment ecosystem and mentored retail-focused tech startups. That’s when the idea to marry his two areas of expertise struck him.

Lisa comes with extensive experience across investment banking in London and marketing and strategy in the education sector in India. Alongside Artisera, she also owns a successful education venture. She completed her undergrad at University of Warwick, UK and MBA at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. As an outsider to the art trade, Lisa brings a unique and fresh perspective to the business.

varun-lisa-1

They had understood that the digital landscape is evolving rapidly and the need to have meaningful online visibility cannot be ignored by traditional brick-and-mortar businesses. Although there were many interesting online ventures in the fashion space, there wasn’t any single platform that helped individuals discover exquisite, handcrafted, non-mass manufactured art pieces in all its different forms, such as furniture, fine art, collectibles etc. Here is where the opportunity was percieved.

“We have different personalities, backgrounds, and skillsets, but there is one common factor – both of us come from families with a strong entrepreneurial bent of mind. In fact, we were the first in our respective families to get a job. So after having spent some time successfully in the corporate world, we decided to come together, launch a business, and create jobs instead”

They are passionate about not just helping individuals buy (especially those new to this world), but also help them learn about, and develop an appreciation for different art forms. And that’s why they have a strong emphasis on educating and knowledge sharing at Artisera.

Lastly, having a deep understanding of this trade gives Varun and Lisa an advantage. The art and collectibles trade still operates in a very traditional way. Because of Varun’s background in his family business, they are able to solve very real problems for their partner brands, without asking them to shift their focus from what they know and do best.

Make your Rakhi special with Surprise Someone. In

Rakhi is just around the corner and is that time of the year when we want to special things for our brothers and these days’ even brothers look at different things to give back to their sisters.

And this year, I am geared up to make my brothers feel really special with amazing gifts collection from Surprise Someone. They have come up with some really great stuff that makes up for perfect rakhi gift and helps my entire process of gifting much more interesting and innovative.

I normally give chocolates to my brothers in place of Indian sweets and there is a big reason behind it, nah not really big reason, but a genuine one, that I professionally make chocolates and bakery items at home and love giving them something that I have prepared instead of the ready made sweets.

[easy-image-collage id=1611]

As I was surfing through the surprise someone site, I came across some amazing boxes that can beautifully behold my chocolates and also I can personalize them using photographs and messages.

Now just look at this first box that I chose and I tried capturing the exact way I would give it to my brother by putting some chocolates and also a rakhi in it.

IMG_4659

IMG_4661

IMG_4662

IMG_4665

I used all the 4 compartments for filling them up with chocolates of different flavors. The thing that I loved about this box was its multi utility. Once I give the box filled with chocolates, it can later be used for keeping other knick-knacks and come in handy. I mean my brother can later use it in his office for keeping small stationery items or give to his wife at home for keeping jewellery or other stuff. Also the looks of the box are so premium that one would love to keep things in it and flaunt it.

And this second box is so rich and classy in looks that it adds so much value to the chocolates all-together, just by putting my chocolates in this box, they look more appealing and tempting.

IMG_4678

IMG_4680

This box also had a greeting on which one could write a personalised message, but because I was currently using the box only for featuring it to you all, I didn’t want it to become dirty and ended up using that greeting paper as a base to my chocolates. You can use it the way you want. This box also has a photo frame in built and I guess that would allow it to become much more personalised. Just imagine, how sweet it would look if the top of the box has a picture of you and your brother, won’t it look much more personal and emotional?

https://youtu.be/bqM98qz3b7s

Here is another option, which I personally loved the most and this can make an ideal gift for the brothers to choose for their sisters. This cute looking hut which has two drawers to keep that nail paints, or jewellery or any other small articles you may think of and this too can be personalized with a photograph put in the photo frame built in the hut itself. This surely can become a piece on the dressing table and get your friends jealous.

[easy-image-collage id=1626]

And the biggest surprise from surprise someone is their reasonable pricing, I mean the boxes are so affordable and will easily help make your gift look much more expensive in its perceived value. Here are some more pics for you to get a glimpse of the collection.

Do check them out and make your rakhi even more special and get in touch with me if you would like to place orders for chocolates and bakery items and do check out more on our Facebook Page and Instagram

Make the small things count.. and Surprise Someone

We all love gifts, I don’t know how many of you love giving gifts, but I am sure everyone enjoys receiving them. As for me I love giving them too. Today there are so many choices to pick gifts for our loved ones whether we shop on ground or online, we can definitely find gifts suitable as per age groups or likings and interests.

However lovely the gift may be, the way one present it adds a lot of value to it and similarly if it is presented in a tacky manner, it takes away a lot from it. No one can replace the feelings with which one gives a gift, but a good presentation does imply your efforts towards making the person feel all the more special.

I recently surfed through the amazing hand made paper bags collection of www.surprisesomeone.in and I have been completely bowled over by it. How nice it looks when you put an expensive sari in a nice vibrant big hand made paper bag, it completely changes ones outlook towards the gift.

IMG_2908

I gave my mom a beautiful suit and rather than giving her in an ordinary bag, I put the suit in a nice hand made bag, it multifold the element of surprise and value to the whole gift. She was so thrilled, and I noticed, after she took out the suit from the bag, the suit lay there on the bed for sometime, while she carefully kept the paper bag in the almirah to be used at a later occasion I guess.

I really feel that in life it’s the smaller things, the smaller efforts that count much more than the bigger ones.

So do take a look at www.surprisesomeone.in and make your loved ones feel more special and loved with their range of gifts and packaging items. I am in love with the site.

Surprising my mom with Surprise Someone. In

Gifts are surely a way of conveying your love and feelings for the other person, and when they come like a surprise, they become even more special. My mom recently gifted a game of Tic Tac Toe that she bought from Surprise Someone, to me and to show her my gratitude and love in turn, I bought a surprise gift for her.

I gave her 6 nail paints from Maybelline and a beautiful neckpiece from the Bushra Collection by Akash Agarwal and now comes the real surprise element, the sweet little hut box in which I presented her my gift. Like my mom even I am hooked to the site Surprise Someone, and this is where I bought this beautiful box from. They have an amazing collection of gift items and also solutions for presenting your gifts in a better way.

IMG_3426 (1)

IMG_3431 (1)

For buying the nail paints and the neck piece I went with my nani to the market, but buying the box from Surprise Someone was really easy, like a child’s play you see, even I could do it on my own.

My mom was really thrilled with the gift and I felt really happy surprising her, she always keeps buying me something or the other but this time I thought I will do something special for her. And here is what she said after receiving the gift.

So please don’t forget to log on to www.surprisesomeone.in and make your loved ones feel special with their gifting options. I just love it..!!
