Experiencing Culinary Delights at Auro Kitchen & Bar!

Auro Kitchen & Bar, nestled in Aurobindo Market, Hauz Khas is surely one of the coolest places you will come across. With a huge terrace to spend some cosy time, they have an equally spacious interior seating as well. Even if the weather isn’t too fantastic to sit outside, the mist fans do the job and make it up the heat and humidity. For those who wanna try their various varieties of Hookah, by default will have to sit outside and enjoy both the weather and the hookah along with some scrumptious food and drinks.

This time around as I was with a vegetarian friend, and also for a change, I too gave non-veg a skip and I don’t regret it at all, as the food was great.

To begin with we ordered, Char Grilled Potatoes, small jacket potatoes cooked with tandoori masala which was spicy and topped with creamy cheese, this surely was one delectable dish. The spiciness of tandoori masala was perfectly balanced by the cheese and it was a match made in heaven.

Next we tried Paneer 65 Sliders and they were truly amazing. Spicy paneer 65 in soft buns, this made for a delightful dish and should definitely be given a try, I am sure even the non vegetarians will love it.

The mushroom Ranikhet was another amazing preparation, mushroom paste, truffle oil, matahari ranikhet cheese and mozzarella over a flat bread, though for my liking the mushroom taste was slightly overpowering, but nevertheless the dish was unique and can surely be given a try.

Truffle Kulcha and Wild Mushroom Seekh Kebabs totally compensated for the non-veg craving, because the mushroom seekh kebabs tasted just like mutton kebabs and were very soft and tender.

For drinks, I settled for Orange Thyme, an orange based mocktail which was quite refreshing, whereas I sipped 2-3 cocktails which my friend had ordered, Passioned Secret Tea, a whiskey based cocktail with bourbon and this was really nice. Other was The Union, a vodka based cocktail with pomegranate and I liked this one too.

While gorging upon the starters and slurping away the drinks, we really werent too hungry for a main course, yet we wanted to try something from the menu. We settled for Masala Cottage Cheese and were so glad that we ordered it. Cottage Cheese chunks cooked in rich tomato gravy served with paranthas, made for an amazing dish and I really recommend it to all my vegetarian friends. You will surely love it.

Overall, Auro was a great foodie experience and I look forward to visit the place again with my friends and family.

The Change is Here- Dominos Pizza Badal Gaya!

It is rightly said that change is the only constant and when the change is for better, its always welcomed with open arms. Just recently our favourite Dominos has changed for better.

Domino’s Pizza, the market leader in the organized pizza segment, unveiled its most significant product refresh with an across the board enhancement of its pizzas.

The improvement to its pizzas include a new soft and tasty crust, more and bigger toppings, more cheese and a new herbier tomato sauce made from imported Californian tomatoes.

The launch of the All New Domino’s Pizzas will be supported by an aggressive advertising campaign across Television, Digital, Press and Radio. It will also be accompanied by a focused outreach effort targeted at its existing customers.

Domino’s Pizzas will now sport a new look and come in an attractive blue and white packaging that highlights the changes. Even after these improvements, the price of Domino’s pizzas will remain unchanged and this will help deliver better value-for-money to customers.

Talking about the new launch, Mr. Pratik Pota, CEO, Jubilant FoodWorks Limited said, “Earlier in the year, we had unveiled our new strategy for driving sustainable, profitable growth. The key pillars of these were Product Improvement, Value For Money, Seamless Customer Experience and Superior Technology all enabled by a focus on cutting costs and driving efficiencies. As part of this strategy, we are pleased to unveil today the largest ever upgrade of our pizzas. The new improved Domino’s Pizzas will have a softer and tastier crust, more and bigger toppings, more cheese and a new herbier tomato sauce.”

Mr. Pota further added, “We will be investing nearly Rs.100 crores behind the upgrade. We believe that the vastly improved product will help both drive frequency amongst existing customers as well as attract new ones, and thereby expand the Domino’s franchise and help growth in the market”.

Domino’s pizzas will now come with a new soft and tasty crust that consumers will enjoy until the last bite. The sauce will now be made of Californian tomatoes and will be tastier, giving Domino’s Pizza a distinct herbier flavour. The quantity and size of the toppings across pizzas have also been increased along with the amount of cheese to provide the consumers with a more satiating and mouthful bite.

Speaking on the new brand transformation Mr. S. Murugan Narayanaswamy, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Domino’s Pizza India, “In the last 20 years we have continuously adapted ourselves and brought the brand closer to our consumers. Our signature 30 minutes delivery promise and the launch of the Pizza Mania range are examples of this. The All New Domino’s is an outcome of insights gained from customer feedback, market research and store observations. Responding to specific feedback on the product gleaned from these, we have completely upgraded our product. We have planned a 360-degree marketing campaign ‘Aapne kaha, humne Kiya’ around the same. We are confident that our customers will love the new, enhanced product.”

And after hearing so much about the new changes, it was absolutely mandatory for me to try these new improved pizzas because just hearing about more toppings, softer crust and cheese along with the tomato sauce, my mouth watered and I had to try them on my own for sure. So I ordered myself a Barbecue Chicken Pizza and Paneer Makhani Pizza and truly the crust was much more softer and almost melted in the mouth. by just looking at the pizza one could make out that it has more cheese. loved the big chunks of chicken and paneer in the respective pizzas. The paneer especially was really soft and I loved it. The taste of the new tomato sauce was more evident in the barbecue chicken pizza and I really liked its freshness. Overall this has been a great change and I look forward to try the other variants of pizza as well. Dominos has been a market leader and I am sure with all these new improvements they are bound to go places.

Hotness at Hotmess..!!

So when a person like me visits Hotmess in CP, its called Hotness in Hotmess 😉

I happened to indulge in a nice lunch with some foodie friends recently and quite liked the place. It has a lounge type ambience, cool and comfortable and just apt for spending some cosy time with friends or family. The food and drinks served also good and here are my recommendations

  1. Chicken Steam Momos- really nice and juicy ones. I quite liked them.
  2. Foreign Cheese Pizza and Italian Cheese Pizza- nicely done, thin crust pizzas, perfectly spiced, and the toppings too were good. I enjoyed the chicken one a lot.
  3. Middle East Bites- a platter that comprises of falafel, hummus, lebneh, fattoush, pita and mukhalal was totally worth indulging in.
  4. Rogani Seekh Kebab- tender and juicy mutton seekh kebabs, topped with a cheesy sauce, they were delectable.
  5. Mexican Jalapeno Pop- a must try dish, very cheesy and tasty, these will be loved by everyone.
  6. Dahi Kebab Drumsticks- dahi filing like  bread rolls is how I can define these nice and delicious dahi kebabs. Vegetarians can definitely enjoy this.
  7. Cheesy Macaroni Veg Pasta- a typical mac and cheese, this was nice, but could have been spiced a little more, as I personally found it too bland for my liking.
  8. Dal Makhani and Butter Naan- good old favourite, as I was already too full with the starters, I just gobbled a couple of bites from this, but can say that the dal tasted perfect.
  9. Puppy Grilled Chicken- this was a very nicely done chicken. The flavours were perfect and must try this one.
  10. Double Dense Chocolate – its a perfect dessert for chocolate lovers. A dense and moist chocolaty cake served with vanilla ice cream.

The drinks too were good and they have good options in both mocktails and cocktails. Try the LIT Khamba, Whisky Sour, Watermelon Mojito, Summer Directions and Rang De Basanti.

Overall it was good fun indulging in food and drinks at Hotmess, and you must give it a try.

Goa Comes to Delhi with Lady Baga!

Even after visiting so many top class restaurants in Delhi NCR, I rarely come across places that are too perfect. Lady Baga was one such perfect experience for sure, rare but true. The ambience, the food, drinks, hospitality, everything was great. The vibrancy hits on you right from the entrance and the vibes are just too great. They have given it a rustic Goan shack feel and it yet has a classy appeal. The 270 degree projection, with beach scenes playing on the screen, and the seating with benches that even has sand underneath gives a beachy feeling, the other side has comfortable couches and on the second level, they have even recreated Goan lounge type seating. The Goan lounge seating is perfect to spend some long hours relaxing and enjoying good meal and drinks with friends.

Now coming to food, I am just naming the dishes I had because to explain each of them I will fall short of words. All I can say is that each and everything was simply great. Not even a single dish was one bit less than the other. Fish Recheado Masala, a typical Goan masala, prepared with red chillies, and other spices along with 2 main ingredients, coconut vinegar and coconut fenni, without these 2, the recheado masala won’t taste as it should. The fish was delicious to the core.

And whats a Goan food without the very famous Chicken Cafreal, a traditional Goan dish prepared with green masala made with green chillies and coriander. This too was amazing, and it tasted as good as it does in Goa.

Try the Light My Fire Masala Chicken and it will truly light your taste buds. Also go for the Platter De Friar, which includes some gherkin and jalepeno chips, piri piri paneer, recheado stuffed mushrooms( they are to die for), and potato wedges. This one is a must have for vegetarians, though being a non vegetarian, I thoroughly enjoyed relishing it.

For the mains we settled for Old Fashioned Fish N Chips, Chicken Lickin and Lamb Kheema and I can say that try any of these and you will love it. Each of the dishes was so so scrumptiously delicious.

Drinks at this place are a highlight, again ask the beverage manager for their specials, or tell them your choice and they create it. I personally recommend Fisherman’s Tonic and Baga Bong for alcoholics and Maiden’s Prayer and Gauva Marry for non-alcoholics. Finish your session with Have A Cigar, shot and you will go gaga over Lady Baga, trust me. A coffee based shot, on the lines on Baileys, but they have made their own liquor and its totally worth indulging in.

Reserve the best for last definitely applies to the desserts at Lady Baga, I tried 4 of them and they were of superlative quality. I haven’t eaten better desserts than this place in a long long time. Blindly order any and you cannot have enough of them.

Bebinca, Sticky Fingers, Brownie and French Banana, I tried all of these and trust me I am still drooling over the thought of having them again. All of them were too good and but the French Banana deserves a special mention, I haven’t eaten anything like this before and kudos to the chef for creating this magical dish. Must try. French toast, caramel, banana, chocolate-peanut butter mousse, vanilla ice cream, what more can you ask for in a dessert.

I am totally bowled over by this place and once again cheers to AD Singh for always coming up with the best possible restaurants in the country. Way to go!

3 Pegs Down- Eat, Drink, Enjoy!

After a shopping spree in Saket, rather than settling down for the food court at the mall or the already explored restaurants within the mall, we came out of the mall and walked up to check out 3 pegs down, located just around the backside of Select City Walk, Saket. In the day time, it seemed like a quaint place, just perfect to spend some time chilling with friends and enjoying some good food and drinks that too on amazing offers.

We began our culinary experience with Spicy Chicken & Corn Salad, Family Nachos Plank and Chargrilled Mushrooms. The salad was simply amazing, loved the spicy dressing with chicken which was perfectly balanced with the sweetness of corn.

The Nachos Plank, served the four of us and was more than sufficient, it was tasty as well and the chargrilled mushrooms are definitely a must try, grilled mushrooms tossed in tahini sauce served with hummus, pita and garlic made for an unusual yet amazing combination and kudos to the chef for coming up with such an innovative combination.

Murg Malai Tikka, Safed Til Paneer Tikka and Lamb Seekh Kebab are also not to be missed as each of them was one better than the other and simply drooling experiences. The Paneer Tikka literally melted in the mouth and so did the Chicken Malai Tikka and Lamb Seekh. They were so tender and delicate and full of flavour that one can’t get over them easily. I know that I am going after all of them very soon.

We also tried the 4 Seasons Pizza and Spaghetti Aglio Olio, but for me, both these dishes could have been better or may be my expectations were raised after the scrumptious starters.

For the mains, we tried, Achari Vada Pao, Pulled Chicken with Pao, Veg Burritos, Dal Makhani and Lahori Kadai Paneer. The Achari Vada Pao and Pulled Chicken with Pao are must haves, they were both really good. Even the veg burritos were nice, but I am personally not too fond of burritos. The Kadai Paneer and Dal were well prepared and with assorted breads like Lachha Parantha, Mirchi Parantha and Garlic Naan, they tasted amazing and made for a complete meal.

 

They serve some amazing cocktails and mocktails too and have offers running all through the day, so that you can make the most of it.

Now coming to desserts, we tried the Tiramisu and Payasam, but somehow both the desserts did not impress me. Though the chef explained that they were not prepared in the traditional manner and had his own twists incorporated in the recipe, I somehow feel somethings are better original and those tastes, textures and flavours should not be tempered with. But overall it was a day well spent, enjoying hearty conversations over hearty meal and drinks.

Not Just Paranthas… Seriously.. its not just about paranthas…!!

We Indians remain Indians at heart no matter where we live or what we do, and some places just reflect this emotion perfectly. And especially when it comes to food, we end up choosing Indian cuisine over and over again even after exploring and relishing other cuisines off and on. I mean who can do without a butter chicken and paranthas, no amount of sushis, pastas, burgers and noodles take place of our very own food, and trust me Not Just Paranthas is just about that. The place is Indian all through, its so Indian, that they don’t have forks and they encourage using hands to eat food, I mean you can be your nasty self here, the same person who relishes dal chawal with hands at home, can relish tearing away paranthas with hands and dip them in curd and slurp them away!

I have been to this place long ago and was quite a regular then, as my office was very near to it, but then as I left my office and moved on, I somehow did not go to this place also since years and just recently after approx 3-4 years I went again and was so happy that they have held on to their quality of food well, its still as good as it was.

In fact the ambience is much more refined now and they also have live music performances which add more to the charm. So you will surely enjoy some retro bollywood music as you relish the food.

Now coming to food, we ordered Cheezy Chooza and NJP Special Mutton Seekh as non-veg starters and Dahi Ke Kebab and Galoti Kebab with Varki Parantha for veg starters. Must say that all four dishes were awesome. The Cheezy Chooza is for sure a dish that you must try. A beautifully done chicken tikka loaded or rather wrapped in cheese, it was delicious. Mutton Seekh was nice and tender. Dahi Ke Kebab is again a delicacy you must try here, they weren’t the usual type, in fact they were very different and really nice. Though they were slightly sweetish in taste, I liked them for their difference. The Rajma Galotis were nice too.

These starters really were very heavy and we were already feeling so full, but how can one not have a parantha when at NOT JUST PARANTHAS 🙂

So we ordered a Chur Chur Chicken Do Pyaza Parantha and Mughlai Pocket Parantha along with some Dal Makhani. Uff, the Chur Chur Chicken Parantha was mind glowingly delicious, you cannot ignore it and if you are a Punjabi, you will love it even more because its drizzled with the makhani gravy on top. Simply yummylicious.

The Pocket Parantha was very different in comparison yet equally delicious and one can try a lot of variety as per taste and choice. Actually thats with every kind of parantha, the menu is so elaborate that at times it leaves you confused. One of the easier ways is to leave yourself in the hands of their ever hospitable staff and they will guide you to the best of their dishes. Don’t forget to enjoy some Kullad Lassi and Chaach along with your paranthas, they are almost mandatory 😉

Coming to the star dish of the evening, it was the dessert, the Meetha Parantha, its heavenly, its delicious, its outstanding. You cannot cannot miss this one. Ask the staff for their special meetha parantha and they will serve you just right.

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this place again and now look forward to being a regular again, and for a family like mine who craves Indian food and good music, this is just the place to be.

Indigo Delicatessen- A delicious experience!

This place truly offers an authentic and delicious food experience for European and Continental Food. The place exuberates class and premiumness in both their ambience and the quality of food. Yes you might find it a little expensive as you glance through the menu, but trust me, when you order and the food comes on your tables, half the battle is won, and other half you won’t even think about once you taste the food.

Now coming to what I tasted, I tried the Deli Cubano- Deli Classic Burger and it was yum! Pulled pork with some special sauce, it was sweet, hot, tangy and everything else at the same time. I simply loved it. The pulled pork was so tender and juicy that it almost melted in the mouth and I highly recommend this one.

Creamy Chicken Salad Sandwich was my next pick and I was extremely happy with my choice. Truly creamy chicken, with some veggies and roasted pineapple in 1000 island dressing, grilled to perfection, this one was a sure shot winner.

Chicken Caesar Salad served as a perfect accompaniment , crunchy with croutons, chicken chunks and lettuce leaves.

For the mains, I settled for Deli Roast Chicken and believe you me, roasted chicken can’t get better than this. Served with mashed potatoes and a mild gravy, the chicken was so juicy and delicious that words really can’t justify.

My friends also tried Seriously Sloppy Joe Burger, Falafel Wrap, Eggs Benedict, Roast Beef and Salmon Steak and they were all praises about every dish. This place is a food lovers paradise and you should not miss it at all.

Even the desserts are commendable especially their home-made ice creams. Mocha and Caramelised Banana, Belgian Chocolate Truffle, White Chocolate and Cherry, Dulce De Leche and Roasted Hazelnut are the must tries. Also don’t miss the Creme Brulle, I am sure you will love it.

I know that I am visiting Indigo Delicatessen very very soon because I can’t get over that pulled pork burger, and what are you waiting for.. please do visit and enjoy a mean worth all the money and effort.

Masala Library- Not just food, but an experience beyond words..!

Some places are not just about food, but the wholesome experience you get in terms of food, presentation, drinks, service, ambience, hospitality and everything else. I have been thinking since long of visiting Masala Library but somehow it never worked out. But recently during Shivratri holiday, me and my son headed out to ML to experience the best.

The ambience is as classy as it can be, totally top notch and a perfect fine dining place.

We decided to settle for the Chef’s tasting menu because we felt that way we would get to try a variety of things and I think it was one of the best decisions we made.

Our culinary extravaganza of 19 course meal began with Amuse Bouche, which had mango pulp with coconut water and was supposed to be gulped down in one shot, and it was really nice, but more intriguing was the way it was presented, like yolk in eggs that too on a nest.

Up next was Madur Vada with Clear Rasam, an absolute delight, both in presentation and taste, loved the miniature vada and the way rasam was supposed to be drunk. Just wonderful!

The next set of snacks included Pirada Cheese Poee, Deconstructed Samosa, Charcoal Bhajiya, Nadir Churma and Farmer’s Staple. Out of these minus the cheese, which I didn’t like too much, everything else was fantabulous. The Deconstructed Samosa went to become one of the best things I have tasted ever. Charcoal Bhajiya was great too, and because of its charcoal black colour my son ended up eating an onion bhajiya which he normally doesn’t. Nadir Chruma was another dish, which he polished off because he didn’t come to know its made of lotus stem and had a spread of hung curd with raddish. The Farmer’s Staple was a millet paratha stuffed with caramelised onions and it was truly mind blowing. Not just the taste and presentation, but the whole experience of the way these dishes are served and one of the team members comes and explains the dishes, its just amazing. It feels everytime a new cultural story is unfolding.

The next set of dishes intrigued me even more, as the presentation and textures were superlative. It included a Mushroom Chai, Galauti Kebab and Sheermal, Curry Leaf Prawns with Thayir Satham and Cubed Chicken Tikka. The Mushroom Chai was simply fabulous and so was the Curry Leaf Prawn, these both tasted awesome. The Cubed Chicken in three different textures,  a chicken tikka, a chicken papad and chicken crumble was great, but the winner here was the Galauti Kebab, which didn’t look like a kebab at all, in fact it appeared as a spread of small noodles on the bed of a fluffy sheermal. This truly was an outstanding preparation.

Up next was a Lamb Champ with maple and kokum glaze and it was amazing, the sweetness of maple was perfectly balanced with sourness of kokum, which made this champ sweet, sour, tangy and extremely tasteful. After this Tawa Keema with Pickled Bitter Gourd was served, very tasty and amusing to find bitter gourd that wasn’t so bitter, but tangy.

The Sorbet which came as a refreshing palette cleanser, was like a deja vu to childhood, as it had the flavours of anardana, hajmola, kala-khatta etc., it was really nice.

Mizo Stew, followed by Tawa Boti, Curry, Breads and Fermented Pakodi Dal made for the last set of main course dishes. By the time I reached this stage I was already so full, eating bite sized foods one doesn’t even realise they would be so filling, but they indeed are. Out of this entire course I loved the stew and the tawa boti the most.

And now an elaborate dessert menu awaited us, and it truly was a treat. Dense Dark Chocolate Mousse, Bhappa Doi, Chenna Payesh, Ashen Kulfi and Jalebi Caviar, doesn’t your mouth starts watering just reading these names.. I am sure it does.. at least mine does..No words can explain the taste of these desserts as you can only savour them and let your taste buds linger, all I can say is that each one of them was better than the other. The final touch was given with a dark chocolate truffle presented with a magnetic levitation, which was great to watch and greater to taste.

Last but not the least a candied orange tree for mouth freshener brought our amazing culinary journey to an end. It truly was the most unique fooding experience I have ever had.

A wide variety of Wine can enhance your meal experience at Masala Library as they have a full fledged Wine Cellar and an in house expert to help you with the selection of wines. As for me I gave wines a skip and settled for a Cherry Cobbler to go with my food.

It was an overwhelming experience for me and I loved it every bit. This is one of those places that has to come in anyone and everyones must visit, so please do go and give yourself a culinary treat!

Sunday Dimsum Brunch at Chi Asian Cookhouse

If you are looking at spending some leisure time relaxing, sipping your favourite drink and eating a hearty meal, the Sunday Dimsum Brunch at Chi Asian Cookhouse is more than perfect for you and here are the reasons why you shouldn’t miss it

  1. You get to eat 9 varieties of dimsums and that too unlimited, isn’t this alone a good enough reason. Well for me it definitely is and that too when each one of the dimsums is so amazing.
  2. Not just dimsums but you get to enjoy a soup, and main course dishes comprising of gravies and rice & noodles, along with desserts and a cocktail/mocktail/wine of your choice from the pre-decided menu. Not just this, the menu will keep changing every month which gives you a chance to indulge in more varieties of the food.
  3. The ambience is cool, warm, vibrant and totally relaxed, which makes it even more perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
  4. The staff is friendly and hospitable and they make sure they look into all your needs. The service is very satisfactory, you won’t have to wait too long for your orders.
  5. Its very reasonably priced. You get a lavish dim sum brunch with 9 varieties of dimsums, a soup, main course, dessert and a drink for Rs 1295AI

Now coming to my experience of food, I simply loved it. Siu Mai Chicken, Spicy Chicken Dumpling, Chicken & Coriander Dumpling, Banana Leaf & Sticky Rice Minced Chicken & Fish Tausi, made for the non-veg variety. The chicken dumplings were more than perfect, I personally loved the Siu Mai Chicken the most. The Banana Leaf Sticky Rice Minced Chicken was simply out of this world, somewhat like a Sushi, yet very different in taste and presentation. This one is highly recommended because one doesn’t get to eat this variety of dims normally. And now coming to the star dish, it was the Fish Tausi, I have no words to explain this one, all I can say is don’t miss it any cost, its totally worth it. Tender pieces of fish topped with black bean sauce and aah my mouth waters while writing about it. The vegetarian dimsums were no less, Spinach & Mushroom Dumpling, Spicy Veg Dumpling, Hargao and Siu Mai. Out of these I loved the Spinach & Mushroom and Spicy Veg Dumplings.

To go along with my dimsums, I ordered a Chicken Manchow Soup, which too was amazing. For drinks I tried the Water Melon Cooler, Virgin Mary, Virgin Mojito and Tokyo Cobbler. While the drinks were good, the most surprising one for me was the Tokyo Cobbler because it was the first time ever when I enjoyed a rose flavoured drink. Most of the times rose drinks are too sweet and overpowering, but this one was extremely refreshing.

Coming to mains, I loved the fact that it didn’t  include too many choices, because after enjoying a bowl full of soup and so many dimsums, a little bit of main course is more than enough. Mao’s Chicken, Chilli Garlic Fried Rice & Mandarin Noodles made up for the main course. I thoroughly enjoyed it as the Mao Chicken was done extremely well, and the gravy went well with Garlic Fried Rice. Noodles is something I can eat anytime and hence enjoyed this too. The tastes were very authentic and I can vouch that the overall preparation of the place is very good. And hence not just the brunch but you can enjoy an excellent oriental meal at Chi Asian Cookhouse.

Darsan, the crispy fried noodles with Vanilla Ice Cream and Ice-Cream Trio were the dessert choices and I liked them both. Darsan is an authentic oriental dessert whereas Ice Cream Trio allows you to enjoy three flavours of ice-cream topped with sauces.

I really loved my culinary experience at this Dimsum Brunch and I am sure you would love it too, and now the next Sunday being the beginning of the year, make it more special by visiting Chi Asian Cookhouse, as you would be tired enough with the previous night party to cook anything on your own.
