Self Care Tips We Forget About

Self-care is a big thing in the modern world, considering how much stress and tension is going around, and how the news rarely has good things to say to us. Because of this, more and more people are having to take a step back to recollect themselves, which is quite a healthy thing to do, when you actually know how to.

Self-care can be done in many different ways, and it’s something everyone has their own opinions on. But sometimes we can forget what activities are truly relaxing, or we can forget how much time we should truly dedicate to taking care of ourselves. And honestly? We could all do with a reintroduction on what we should do for ourselves! So here’s a couple of ideas to hopefully inspire you.

Even just taking a few deep breaths can relax you in moments. (Source)

You’re Allowed to Live in the Moment

A lot of people hear the term ‘mindfulness’ and immediately turn up their nose; it’s something quite a few don’t put stock in or don’t let themselves properly try or enjoy, and as a result, they can miss out on a lot of benefits. So if you’re trying to give yourself a break from very serious things like negotiating with debt collectors or dealing with the loss of a beloved pet, be sure to let yourself breathe and feel in the moment.

It really can knock the stress and tension of life away, and let you feel like nothing exists outside of this little bubble you’ve created for yourself. And that’s something that could work for everyone – if you live a fast-paced, high demanding job, or you haven’t had any free time this week and next week is shaping up to be the same way, use this as your sign to try out some mindfulness techniques.

There Are Good Things in the World

And you can and should indulge in them! If what other people think means a lot to you, now’s your chance to shed their influence in a little way that still matters! So no matter what a critic said about a recent movie, or what your friends think of that reality TV show you like to binge on – if you enjoy something in media, no matter how ‘trash’ it seems to other people, you’re allowed to indulge in it.

Never let yourself feel guilty for having fun in harmless ways like this. As humans, we like to think of ourselves as people of the world, who are very cultured and intelligent, and we trick ourselves into turning away from harmless pursuits we can very much enjoy. Don’t let yourself fall into this kind of trap!

Self-care is something we take for granted, or we push aside as a silly thing that won’t do anything real for us. But it can do a lot for both your mind and body, so be sure to give it a try if you’ve had a bad day.

The Key To Helping Others: Taking Care Of Yourself First

Everyone knows that they need to be taking care of themselves, but sometimes, that’s much easier said than done. If you’re one of those people who is always looking after other people, then you might find that your own needs aren’t being met. And while that would be just fine for a while, if it carries on unchecked then, sooner or later, you will find that it’s something you should have corrected much earlier. Here are a few ideas to ensure all your needs are met.

The Essential Ingredients

While it’s nice to daydream of going on a long travel trip, or taking a couple of months just to do whatever you want to do, sometimes simply just taking care of the essentials in life is enough to give us a solid platform on which to be our best. Before you’ve even begun thinking about the needs of others, make sure you’re eating well, getting enough sleep and exercise, and that your health is in check. You’ll find it much easier to be there for others if you’ve been there for yourself first.

Getting Help From Others

It might sometimes feel like that, but you’re really not in this all on your own. You will have people who are willing to help you, and if you don’t – or they’re not available – then there will be professional options. If you’re overworking yourself trying to take care of an elderly relative who needs support, then look at getting some respite care in the home. It’ll give you a break, during which you can refresh and re-energise. For things like children, then you’ll have siblings, parents, and other friends with their own children to give you a break for the evening.

Indulging

If you’re a person who always thinks of the needs of others first, then you probably can’t even remember the last time that you treated yourself to something nice. Moving forward, make a promise to yourself to do something that’s only for your benefit will help ease the burden of looking after others.

It could be buying a new dress, taking a day to do something that you love doing, catching up with your new favorite reality game show like Biggest Liar in Ghana, or simply spending the evening with relaxing music and a good book.

Be Wary of Overdoing It

Some people don’t know how to say no. Whenever something is asked of them, they’ll volunteer their time and move it straight to the top of the priority list. While this may, on the face of it, look like a good characteristic, it can only be considered as such if it’s not negatively impacting the person’s life. If you find yourself overwhelmed with tasks, then learn to say no. It might just help people understand that you’re doing a lot for them without asking anything in return.

Learn to Laugh

Finally, remember that our attitude is everything. If we’re positive, then the battle has already been half-won. Learn to laugh at life, and you’ll prevent too much stress from building up. Positivity will take you a long way!

Self Love: How To Feel Good In The Skin You’re In

https://www.pexels.com/photo/rear-view-of-woman-standing-in-balcony-during-sunset-325520/

As women, it’s not always easy to feel good about yourself. In fact, more often than not, most of us feel quite bad. It’s just so much easier to be tough on yourself than it is to try and be kind to yourself. But sometimes, you have to be able to say enough is enough, and start being a bit nicer to yourself. However, if you’re not too happy in your body at the moment, this could be something that you actually find quite hard. So, you’re going to want to work on things that will help you to shake the negativity off.

And although this is easier said than done, being happy as you are doesn’t have to be a pipe dream. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be out of reach. You just need to know how to make it happen. Whether you’ve always felt self-conscious, or you’ve recently been through a rough patch, and you’re looking to move forward in a positive manner, each of these seven points should help you. So if you are ready to change the way you feel, let’s take a look at some of the things that could help you to feel great in the skin you were born into.

Think Positive

As hard as it can often seem, you’re going to want to make sure that you change your thought processes. When you’re so used to being negative about yourself, it’s not the easiest to suddenly be positive, but you should try to work on that if you want to feel good. By having a positive mindset, you should find that it’s easier for you to feel better about yourself. When you start to manage this, you should find everything that little bit better.

Compliment Yourself

As you start to get a little more positive about yourself, you’re going to want to start complimenting yourself. It might feel a bit strange at first, but you need to make sure that you’re happier in yourself. It might feel good to say to yourself that you look good in a certain dress, or that a lipstick color suits your skin tone. It might all seem a little strange at first, but before long you’ll definitely notice that you feel so much more confident in yourself.

Work Out

When you’re feeling down, you don’t always want to do this, but one thing’s for sure, working out is a great way to feel good in your skin. So think about getting in shape. Because when you start to work out a bit more, you will find that you get an endorphin rush, and it’s always hard not to feel amazing in your own skin when you’ve got endorphins rushing around your body.

Treat Yourself

You should also think about the things you can do to feel better about yourself too. When you’re wearing old clothes that no longer fit you, it’s going to affect your confidence. So, you need to think about investing in pieces that will make you feel good. Whether it’s something like dresses from Anthony’s, or an entire new outfit from one of your favorite local boutiques, go ahead. Because you need to feel good about yourself, and clothes can help with that.

Get Some Sleep

Another thing you should aim to do is to get enough sleep. Because when you’re not sleeping well, it will affect your frame of mind. However, when you’re able to sleep well, and get enough high quality of sleep at that, you should find that you can take on a more positive mindset so much more easily. And you should have more energy too – which will always make you feel good.

Don’t’ Make Comparisons

It’s so easy to compare yourself to others. But this isn’t always great for your self-esteem. Instead of making comparisons with celebrities or your friends, you need to feel good in yourself. So stop putting yourself down. Focus on the things you do like about yourself, and work on the things you don’t. Because comparisons don’t make changes, actions do!

Eat Well

Finally, you might also want to think about trying to eat a little better too. Again, this isn’t always something you feel like doing when you’re down. But it will make you feel better in the long run. There are certain foods that can help you feel better. And although you may be craving junk right now, it’s only going to make you feel worse about yourself. So try to avoid rubbish when you’re feeling rubbish and you should be okay.

How To Completely Change Your Look In 4 Steps

Your body.

Your body is probably your worst enemy, as it is for most women. Our heads are filled with so many conflicting ideas as to what constitutes the perfect body. Some people say we should be as skinny as a rake, but other people say we should have voluptuous curves. It’s an absolute headache, and it’s all rubbish.

You don’t “have to” look any particular way when it comes to your body other than the way you want to look. In fact, to be more exact, you should look the way that makes you feel comfortable. Don’t starve yourself, and don’t over-eat. A healthy body should be your priority because there is no ideal size. If you eat a consistent diet and keep active on a daily basis then you’re doing everything right.

Your face.

Another aspect of your appearance that you want to keep healthy in a practical sense as well as in terms of its appearance on the surface is your face. Frequent moisturizing is crucial to avoid dry, cracked skin, and a clean face is absolutely essential when it comes to avoiding acne and other blemishes. There’s nothing wrong with a little make-up, of course, but try not to let your face become too oily during the day.

Mental health also affects appearance, so through practicing positive thoughts about your appearance you’ll reduce your stress and, in turn, your acne; it’s a positive cycle. You should also be looking after your dental health; your teeth shouldn’t just look white but actually be healthy. Look after your gums, in particular, by flossing and ensure that you brush your teeth two or perhaps even three times a day.

Your fashion.

Ah, fashion. It’s a love-hate relationship. We love pretty clothes, but we hate it when they don’t fit us or we think they don’t look quite right on us. If you’re lacking in confidence with regards to the fashion department then you could go on a shopping spree with your pals so as to have a team of advisors on what looks good or bad. You could also browse through online sites offering sleek and modern dresses for women because you might be selling yourself a bit short with your current wardrobe.

Again, don’t put yourself down; a good fashion sense isn’t some elusive concept that you can’t quite grasp. What’s most likely is that you never had the confidence to wear the pretty dresses or outfits you saw in shops or on other people; you need to rid yourself of these doubts and take a risk. Self-esteem is absolutely the key to changing your overall appearance, as we’ll discuss in the final step…

Your confidence.

This is the final step to looking good. Whether you want to try parting your hair on the other side or completely changing the color of your hair altogether, everything will come together if you just work it. People pick up on positive energy and confidence. You look more attractive when you feel more attractive, so you should be making yourself look the way you want to look; that way, you’ll be happier about your appearance, and this will make you look more attractive to others.

Selfienomics- Book Review

A word about the Author, Revant, for me a very unusual name;don’t know what it means and the name itself amused me.
Revant is a Certified Health Coach and a Graduate of New York University, Stern School of Business.
He is based in Kolkata and this is his first book.

Selfienomics as the name suggests is about the economics of oneself. The book in a very light humorous way tackles the very serious issue of ignored Self Improvement.

The book is full of humorous lines trying to teach you many serious aspects of your personal life.

Sample this for an example :To quit smoking is the easiest thing in the world.I have done it a 1000 times.

The author has made the process of self improvement which one tends to find boring in umpteen other books in the category look like a very simple fun filled journey. Its seldom we want to read books on self improvement, one because we all think we are perfect as it is, second those books sound too preaching types which end up being boring to the core, but trust me this one is different. It doesn’t preach you, it rather makes you familiar with the aspects of life that we don’t bother enough about but again in a lighter way. Because of humour being the front end of the book, it doesn’t loose its momentum till the very end.

The book really really has a sensible, practical and as I keep mentioning , a hilarious outlook on how to make money, get the most out of your job, broaden your network as also enjoy your family and give back to the society and really enjoy doing so.

A real fun book on the serious issues we face in our day to day life and to enhance the quality of life we are living.

A ‘Mast Must’ read.

Grab your copy now and I assure you it will be difficult for you to put it down.

Happy,Hilarious Reading. Go for it.
