Rang in Christmas with a Lavish Buffet at Pavilion 75, Welcome Hotel, Dwarka

A foggy winter afternoon, day of Christmas and the whole family gets to enjoy a lavish buffet at Pavilion 75, Welcome Hotel, Dwarka, what more can one ask for?

For me it was simply splendid. The Christmas vibes welcomed us right at the entrance, a big Christmas Tree at the Lobby, followed by a warm greeting by Santa Claus who led us to the restaurant, Live Singing of Christmas Carols, celebrations were in the air.

As soon as I entered the restaurant my mind was blown away, there were more than 50-60 dishes showcased as a lavish spread and all of them looked worth drooling. My mouth started watering while I was capturing these delicacies on my camera and the wait from the buffet to the dishes coming on my plate to then my mouth seemed endless.

The head chef was generous enough to send us a selection of dishes on our table just as we settled. Grilled Prawns, A Veg Kebab Platter and Grilled Fish were the first things served to us. The prawns were mind blowingly delicious, I simply loved them. They were perfectly spiced and grilled. The Veg Kebab Platter was great too, I found the Moong Dal Galauti best out of the lot. It was a mouth melting experience and the taste still lingers on. The way fish was presented in a fish shaped terracotta dish, added a whole lot to the overall experience. The fish just didn’t look good but tasted awesome too.

There were enough choices in the menu for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Grilled items like Tikkas and Kebabs, a Decent Continental Menu, A Live Shawarma Counter, an Elaborate Spread of Main Course Indian dishes and an even Elaborate Spread of Desserts is what comprised of this lavish buffet.

I tried the Shawarma which was good, from the main course I loved the Rahra Chicken, Mutton Keema, Gosht Biryani and Pista Chicken. Their Dal Makhani was simply awesome.

Desserts left me confused and I really could not make up my mind on what to eat and what to leave, so ended up trying a little bit of most of the items. The Rasgulla, Gulab Jamuns, Cakes, Ras Malai, Rabdi & Jalebi and everything was just amazing. I wish I had some more space in my stomach and I could have tried whatever was left.

Overall the experience was mind blowing, the staff is very hospitable and attentive and I can vouch for their buffets, you shouldn’t miss them at all. They had some activities planned for children as well and my son tried his hand at pottery. It was really a fun day spent enjoying good food, music, drinks and activities.

Preview Launch of Royal Brewery Bistro

Hotel Royal Plaza has launched Royal Brewery Bistro for Delhites to celebrate the ongoing festive season. The Bistro has an industrial theme inspired decor which is both elegant and stylish.
It has a combination of Dining and Lounge seating with a community table to accommodate the wide range of choicest delicacies brought to your table by Executice Chef, Atul Mishra. The poolside view enhances the ambience of this Bistro. It makes for a perfect place to chill and relax with your friends and family
The Bistro cellar stocks over 300 bottles of choicest wines. It also boasts of serving a wide variety of fresh draft beers, some of which we got to taste were amazing. Also on the menu are a variety of RBB signature cocktails and mocktails.

As perks of being a blogger we got to visit the place just a day before its official launch and also got to taste a few delectable items from the menu.

To begin with a Chicken Salad and French Onion Soup were served. The salad was just wonderful and I wish had a bigger portion of the same. The soup was great too and unlike the thick french onion soups that I have tasted it various places this one was different, It was made of pure onion stock and had a well soaked bread as the base with loads of onion rings. It wasn’t anything similar to what I had tasted in the past and I definitely recommend trying this one out.

The New Zealand Lamb Chops were a revelation of the kind of cuisine to look forward to. Really succulent pieces of chops done to perfection. This one is chef’s special and you must try them.

We also tried some Pizza, Pasta and Tacos and all of the dishes were delectable. All I wish was the service was a little better and the food a little warmer, which I am sure they will surely look into and rectify.

The dessert platter not only looked amazing but also tasted wonderful. May be I am a little biased as it had all chocolaty items.

Add to the above some smashing cocktails and great music provided by the house DJ and you are all set to spend an amazing time. I surely look forward to visit the place sometime soon and I really had an awesome evening spent there.

Wishing the Bistro a roaring success. So keep this place in mind when you plan your next outing! Enjoy

Celebrations in Style with Eros Hotel, Nehru Place

Come festive season and Eros Hotel, Nehru Place is all geared up to usher in the new years in style. I was recently invited for a sneak peek to the celebrations at the hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. A giant Christmas Tree adoring the lobby, ginger bread house at the Tea Lounge and festive decoration all through the hotel set the mood right from the moment I stepped in.

The party arrangements were made at Empress of China, hotels oriental dining restaurant. The place had a large centre table set for a fine dining Christmas dinner, dim lights, loads of candles and a menu interestingly put on a Santa’s cap. It also an outdoor set-up, with ample festive lights, live singing , bar and snacks being served. It was a windy evening, but the charm of sitting outside could not be ignored. Coal stands were strategically placed to keep us warm.

Orange Mimosa was served as a welcome drink and it was amazing. Dimsums, Chicken Canopies, Salmon Rolls were being served as snacks. I personally loved the chicken canopies and dimsums. Also tried some Cold Cuts, Pita Platter and Chilli Paneer which were good too. Fun props were kept to indulge in some crazy photo opportunities. Live music added to the whole celebratory vibes and mingling with like minded friends is always a pleasure.

After chit chatting and enjoying the snacks and a couple of drinks, we moved inside for our fine dining 3 course. Mushroom Cappuccino along with Prawn Harissa, Chicken Tartare and Tandoori Raan Phyllo were served first. The Mushroom Cappuccino was delicious. Out of the starters platter, I loved Chicken Tartare and Raan Phyllo, they both were simply amazing. I didn’t like the prawn much.

For mains there was a choice of Lamb Loin, Rolled Lasagne and Indian Sea Bass. I settled for Rolled Lasagne although the Lamb Loin and Sea Bass both looked equally tempting and inviting. There was roasted Turkey as well to savour and which was just fabulous.

Deconstructed Plum Cake served for dessert was extremely delectable. I loved both the presentation and taste of the same.

Post dinner, a cheese platter along with Whisky and Wine was served and it had some amazing cheese variety I must say.

I loved the dinner, the festive vibes and overall ambience of the place and I am sure you will love it too. So keep Eros Hotel in mind as you plan your new year celebrations in this week. For me its always gonna be most special place.

New Menu Launch at The Grill Mill, Cyber Hub

The Grill Mill at Cyber Hub recently launched a new menu with few more dishes finding their way in the existing menu. I was invited to witness the same by Blue Beans Foodies Meetups. The place was bustling with people and it was a chance to meet up fellow foodies as well. There were about 14 dishes included in the menu, though all were starters and just about 2 desserts. There were no mains.

The dishes that I tried were:

Water Melon with Danish Feta & Green Black Olive Dust- The water melon with feta cheese and olive dust was really refreshing. Also the vibes around the place overall felt very festive and this dish in particular looked very Christmasy to me, because of the colours Red, White and Green.

Mint Paneer Walnut Ki Tikki- This was nice and crispy on the outside and extremely tender on the inside, but somehow I could not relate it to the fact that it was made of paneer. I could not taste paneer at all, but it was nice.

Mushroom Crostini- A toast topped with mushrooms tossed in creamy sauce, these made for a nice snack and definitely a delight for vegetarians. I personally love mushrooms and hence it was a delight for me too.

Sea Food Ceviche with Baby Rocket- This was like a sea-food salad served in a shot glass. It was delectable.

Puff Pita and Chicken Chettinad- I somehow didn’t like this one much. Chettinad chicken placed over a pita puff, it definitely looked tempting but didn’t taste the same. For me the Chettinad chicken didn’t score too well.

Keema Kaleji with Maska Pao- This was was the sure shot winner of the evening. The keema placed on top of a maska pao was delicious. The keema kaleji was perfectly spiced and the maska pao can never fail. What I loved the most about this dish was it being bite sized, I mean one bite that explodes flavours in the mouth. Must try for sure.

For drinks I settled for Fruit Punch & Water Melon Cooler and both were good.

The desserts got too delayed and hence I had to give them a miss. The Chef there also gave a live demo of preparing a pepper sorbet and it was really nice. All I can say is that go and try for yourself, the new items of the menu and I am sure you will like them. Enjoy!

The Masala Trail by Osama Jalali, the amalgamation of street foods of India

Kolkata Ke Puchkas, Bombay Ki Pav Bhaji, Mysore Ka Vada, Chennai Ka Masala Dosa, Delhi Ki Chaat, we all are well aware of these amazing street foods we get across the length and breadth of our country and sometimes we just wait for our travel plans to materialise so that we can savour these delicacies in their whole authenticity. Because sometimes we don’t get everything in our own cities or even if we get most of the times the authentic flavours are missing. But not anymore because Osama Jalali along with Keventers brings The Masala Trail to Delhi which not only boasts of street and regional foods from across regions under one roof but also infuse complete authenticity in the tastes.

To begin with we were served Tower Chaat, layers and layers of yummy dilli ki chaat presented in a tall glass. This one is surely a must have. Pakora Basket and Samosa Chaat were served next. The pakora basket had assorted pakoras and is totally worth it. Crunchy & crispy pakoras with green chutney make for a perfect evening snack. The samosa chaat too was good to taste. Banarasi Tamatar Chaat was something I had not tried before and hence found it very different, but could not acquire the taste for the same.

Moving on from North, we tasted some Western delicacies, Panki, a Gujarati snack prepared with rice flour between banana leaves was served first. Though it tasted nice, but it wasn’t something that I would fancy much otherwise. Dabeli Pav, again a traditional Gujarati dish, it is made with mashed potatoes tossed in masala toppings and sandwiched between grilled pav. This was definitely worth trying and I am sure you will like it. Mumbaiya Pizza Dosa and Chowpaty Pav Bhaji was something we tried next and both of these things were simply outstanding. I have always found a challenge with restaurants serving pav bhaji without the authentic taste, but here it was exactly the way its found in Mumbai and the same was with Pizza Dosa, it reminded me of the famous stalls near Mithibai College in Mumbai that serve these dosas. Even the Vada Pav was as authentic as it could be, retaining the original taste, your search for vada pavs could definitely end here.

Mysore Vada from the south and Kolkata Puchkas from the east were next, the vadas were nice and crispy but because I am not basically fond of South Indian food, I just tried these for namesake. Though the Masala Dosa looked tempting enough. The Kolkata puchkas were a bit of disappointment because I found them to be a little dry, the filling could have been better and even the masala water.

For mains we settled for Amristsari Kulchas and Dal Makhani with Naan. The Amritsari Kulchas were simply amazing, I loved them and one must surely try them. The Dal Makhani was easily one of the best I had eaten in recent times and you cant afford to miss it.

Another thing that you shouldn’t be missing is the Kesari Lassi and Matka Kulfi to complete your meal and it will be one soulful journey of food that you will end up experiencing at this place. I am very sure that this restaurant is going to give all vegetarian restaurants a run for their money, so don’t think much and visit asap.

Ardor 2.1- Restaurant Review

I was recently invited by a blogger friend Vibhav Dwivedi to review this restaurant & bar which has undergone a complete revamping and hence its now called ARDOR 2.1, the next level of food, drinks and even hookah.

The place is spread across two floors, the lower floor being more like a fine dining place and apt for families and bigger groups, also Sheesha is not allowed on this floor. The upper floor that also has a balcony is more like a lounge where one can sit back, relax and chill with friends. This place is ideal for the youngsters. Music, Hookah, Drinks, Awesome Food, what else does one need and hence its just perfect.

For starters we ordered some French Fries, Chicken Caesar Salad, Chatpata Peanuts and Chilly Paneer to begin with. Caesar Salad was nice and crunchy with the lettuce leaves, perfect dressing and big chunks of chicken. Loved the chilly paneer as well, perfectly spiced with big pieces of cottage cheese, this is an all time favourite. And of course needless to say that the peanuts and french fries were good too, though there is hardly any bad that can be done to them. There was a wide variety of mocktails and cocktails to choose from to go along with the array of starters.

Dahi Bhalla Papdi, Non-Veg & Veg Kebab Platter, Crunchy Baby Corn & Mushroom with Dry Chilli, Dragon Chicken, Paneer Tikka, Loaded Nachos, Chilly Chicken Dry and Sesame Fried Fish made for our next set of appetisers. The Crunchy Baby Corn & Mushrooms turned out to be really good. The platters were both good and truly a delight whether for vegetarians or the non-vegetarians. I had more than everything one can ask for. The non-veg platter had an assortment of Ajwaini Machhi Tikka, Tandoori Chicken, Murg Ghazab Ka Seena, Ghosth Seekh Kebab, Murg Tikka Punjabi, Murg Malai Kebab, Murg Reshmi Kebab and Dhaniya Mirch Ka Machhi Tikka.. isn’t that just wow..I mean what more really would you need. Similarly the veg platter had an assortment of Paneer Tikka Ajwaini, Khumb Achari, Bharwa Chutney Wale Aaloo, Hara Bhara Kebab, Dahi Ke Kebab, Tandoori Soya Chaap Punjabi, Paneer Mirch Ke Seekh, Makkai Te Pudine Di Tikki and Tandoori Rani. These platters were sure shot winners and each item of the platter was delectable. All the kebabs and tikkas were very tender and delectable.

Nachos were loaded with beans and salsa and tasted really nice, the sesame fried fish was good too. The dragon chilly chicken was pieces of fried chicken with oodles of black bean sauce. I loved the taste and concept of this dish, but I wish the chicken wasn’t so stretchy. It could surely have been better, because wherever there was less sauce, the chicken appeared too dry to eat. I am sure they can work around this one.Chilly Chicken and Paneer Tikka were great to taste.

Coming to mains, I tried the Pastas, both in Red and White Sauce and they were really done well and I loved it. I also tried the loaded veggie pizza and it too tasted great. I was so full with all this that I had no space to try the Indian mains but going with the overall quality of food I am sure that the Indian main course would be as great and you must definitely try it. I have heard that their Dal Makhani is exceptionally good. For me, I just settled for a Match Kulfi to bring my culinary exploration to a sweet end.

I recommend this place highly and you must give it a try really soon you won’t be disappointed.

Guilt Free Indulgence at the Diabetic Dessert Trail…!

As part of the Diabetic Food Trail, Diabetic Dessert Trail was a day of guilt free indulgence for me. The event which was conceived with the objective of offering diabetics, pre-diabetics and health conscious people a reason to enjoy their food and desserts without any apprehensions, has tied up with 200 restaurants across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Pune. The Diabetic Food Trail is presented by Britannia Nutrichoice Essentials in association with Biocon, the largest Indian Insulins Company. Britannia and Biocon have once again partnered with DFT, this year along with Fitternity.com, Health & Nutrition and Burrp. Its been conceptualised by Seema Pinto, Director, Semora Entertainment Works along with her husband.

This particular dessert trail meant restaurant hopping with 4 different participating outlets showcasing their healthy desserts and it also meant that we were going to eat a lot of desserts but without feeling guilty about it, so all I had to say was bring it on..!!

img_1201

We began our sweet journey with Bercos in Greater Kailash I, in a cosy atmosphere, we were served with Sugar –Free Lemon Cheesecake (Kcals: 162.2, Fat: 14.2g, Carbs: 4.1g, Protein: 6g) and Sugar –Free Caramel Custard (Kcals: 378, Fat: 28g, Carbs: 32g, Protein: 6g). The Cheese Cake was so delicious and sugary sweet that not even for one moment it felt that it was sugar free, I simply loved it. The Caramel Custard wasn’t as sweet as the cheese cake, but it was nice too.

Our next stop was right across the road, and after one fulfilling experience we went to explore the other. Getafix too appeared a cosy and comfortable place where you could enjoy a happy meal with your family or friends. Here on the menu we had Sugar –Free Carrot Cake (Kcals: 396, Fats: 26.1g, Carbs: 37.1.6g, Protein: 4.9g) and Sugar –Free Lime Pie (Kcals: 136, Fats: 4.7g, Carbs: 21.3g, Protein: 3.1g). The Carrot Cake was simply mind blowing, dense and yet super moist, I could just go on and on with it, it was so delicious, and you must try. The Lime Pie was good too, but somehow I was hooked to the Carrot Cake.

img_1239

img_1246

Our next halt was Bohemia in Greater Kailash I, N Block Mkt, the place oozed out comfort and a suave ambience. Though we were now already full from the last two indulgences, I was really looking forward to this one, because they had my favourites Sugar –Free Tiramisu (Kcals: 340, Fat: 18g, Carbs: 40g, Protein: 4g) and Sugar -Free Chocolate Fudge (Kcals: 250, Fat: 10g, Carbs: 38g, Protein: 3g). Guilt free chocolate desserts are like a dream come true. Both the Tiramisu and the Chocolate Fudge were awesome. Extremely delectable they didn’t taste as if they were sugar free, they tasted as normal as prepared with sugar. I loved them both.

img_1266

img_1276

Oh, after 3 stops, this dessert trail really seemed very fulfilling, filling the stomach too :), but nevertheless, we reached our last stop, which unlike others wasn’t a restaurant, but it was a bakers den called G’s Patisserie. Here we were served Sugar –Free Warm Apple & Cinnamon Cobbler (Kcals: 237.2, Fats: 9.8, Carbs: 36.7g, Proteins: 3.5g), Sugar –Free Chocolate Zucchini Cake (Kcals: 160.2, Fats: 6.4g, Carbs: 25g, Proteins: 3.3g), Sugar –Free Banana Oats Bar with NutriChoice Essentials Oats Cookies (Kcals: 87, Fats: 1.8g, Carbs: 17.2g, Proteins: 21g). I personally loved the Apple Cobbler and the Oat Cookies, which were also live demonstrated by the owner of the place. The entire experience was worth remembering.

img_1283

The Healthy Dessert Trail was introduced to give food bloggers and media a glimpse of some of the innovative and healthy desserts that restaurants in each of these cities had specially designed, for the Diabetic Food trail 2016. With desserts featuring on a larger number of menus this year, it was a perfect window to showcase these treats, while debunking the myths that desserts could only be high calorie, and hence not suitable for diabetics.

A key aspect of The Diabetic Food Trail has been to address certain myths associated with what a diabetic can and cannot eat. The most common one being that desserts are a big no no. And thanks to our restaurant partners on the Dessert trail, we were able to demonstrate how easily desserts can be made healthy yet delicious, wherein not only a diabetic, but also a regular individual with a sweet tooth could enjoy them. I am glad I was part of this journey and I really urge to the restaurants to keep continuing these items in their menu on a regular basis so that people can really eat guilt free!

Hyatt Place, Gurgaon Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with a Lavish Sunday Brunch..!

Brunches to me are celebration of food, you get to explore so many tastes, cuisines and flavours under one roof, and what would you call a brunch that was organised to mark completion of 2 years of a modern essential business hotel, double celebration! Yes, Hyatt Place, a modern business hotel, strategically located in Udyog Vihar, the heart of Gurgaon recently completed two years and a grand celebration took place with an exclusive buffet laid out at their Gallery Cafe. Hyatt Place in association with CrazeMag and Saddi Dilli, two very successful online publications, invited a selected few bloggers to be a part of this celebration, and I was privileged to be one amongst them. A sweet gesture of sending a personalised invite made me look forward to the event even more.

14947859_10154715274484855_5251275166660396764_n

It was a warm Sunday afternoon and I headed to Hyatt Place with lots of excitement in my heart, I was looking forward to the lavish celebration brunch and also meeting fellow bloggers. A very warm welcome by the entire staff including the hotel General Manager, Ms. Maulina Gupta and Head Chef Gaurav started the event at the right note. While entering the gallery cafe, the dessert lay out caught my attention right away and I was already eyeing it. an array of cocktails and mocktails were being served and, a special Hoegaarden Beer counter was set. I tried the Mango Marry and this mango version on the likes of Virgin Marry was awesome. I really loved it. I also tried a orange mocktail and it too was made perfectly.

Chef Gaurav, briefly explained about the menu of the day, highlighting the fact that it has got something for everyone, even preferences of children were kept in mind while designing the menu. After this brief introduction and welcome address by Ms. Maulina Gupta, we were all set to explore this culinary journey.

There was a wide range of breads like French Baguette, Multigrain Loaf, Pitta Bread, Soft Rolls, Focaccia Breads, Puffs etc.to choose from along with a plethora of dips, Roasted Vegetable & Parmesan Dip, Marinated Olives, Mustard Vinaigrette, Flavoured Butter, to name a few.

[easy-image-collage id=3545]

Antipasto, which is an Italian word for ‘before the meal’, also had a lot of options to choose from, soups, salads, cold cuts and some traditional snacks were a part of this section. I tried Roasted Pear, Baby Spinach & Walnut Salad and it was amazing, I also tried Pineapple Carpaccio, Smoked Chicken with Arugula & Quinoa and Peppered Fish. There were other dishes like Squids, Khandvi, Dhokla etc as well and the spread had a wonderful balance for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. For me it was a very satisfying experience, I loved each item, and now my expectations from the main course and live counters was raised very much.

Eggs to order and Pastas as per choice were being made tirelessly by the chefs at the live kitchen. For starters there was Murg Malai Tikka, Fish Fingers, Chilli Paneer and Corn & Cheese Poppers. Being a non-vegetarian I opted for Murg Malai Tikka and Fish Fingers, the tikka was melt in a mouth kind of an experience, the chicken was so tender and mildly spiced, and the marination made it very very delectable. The Fish Fingers were crispy outside and soft inside, just the way they should be.

img_0879

My next halt was the TEX MEX Live Station, which was serving Burritos, Quesadillas, Enchiladas, Nachos and Various type of salsa and refried beans. I tried the Chicken Quesadillas and they were out of this world, I could not resist a second helping and enjoyed every bite of it. I even propagated it to the fellow foodies.

img_0905

The next Live Station was of Barbecue and Grill, and the sheer aromas of meats getting grilled pulled me to this counter. I opted for some Lamb Kibbeh and Paneer Shashlik, as my son who was accompanying me is very fond of Paneer.

img_0904

img_0908

This entire area where the Live Stations were placed was a gastronomic as well as a visual treat. The lawns with lots of greenery, cane furniture and wooden sheds made it an idle spot to sit back and enjoy tasteful meals. With approaching winters I am sure this place will be a favourite for many.

Coming to the main course, it had Indian, Asian and Western items. My tummy was filling, but I had no intentions to miss the main course and hence I tasted a bit from every cuisine. The Indian section consisted of Murgh Musallam, Paneer Laung Lata, Methi Chana, Aloo Gobhi, Mirch Baigan ka Salan, Dal Makhani and Mutton Biriyani.

I picked the Mutton Biryani and my son settled for Dal Makhani and Murg Mussalam. The Biryani was undoubtedly the best I have tasted in recent times, the mutton was tender and juicy, the spices perfect and loved the fried onions that topped it. I started by taking only a spoonful of it, but after tasting it, I had to help myself with a better serving. The Dal and Murg Mussalam as per my son were equally outstanding, he being a blogger and a foodie has become an expert in Dal Makhani over a period of time, and he generously and willingly gave it a 5/5.

The Asian Section had Vegetable Hakka Noodles, Seasonal Vegetable with Hot Garlic Sauce, Fish in Lemon Sauce and Chicken in Soya Ginger Sauce and I tried the Hakka Noodles with Fish and they were good too. By now I was already convinced with the quality of food at Hyatt Place, because I didn’t come across a single food item which was disappointing or below my expectations.

The Western Section had Poached Fish in Tomato and Saffron Broth, Bouquet Erie of Vegetable, Double Baked Potato and Roasted Chicken. I tried the roasted chicken and the double baked potato, the chicken was nice and juicy, the potato too had a perfect taste, just that the outer shell of potato was slightly hard making it little difficult to cut through.

Now coming to the best part of the brunch, the desserts, the spread was so beautiful and lavish that it was hard to choose on what to pick and what to leave.

But being a chocoholic, I am a little biased towards chocolate desserts and hence tried Chocolate Orange Dacquoise, it was dense and flavoursome, I quite liked it. The next I tried Burnt Chocolate Gateaux and I can again say that this was the best I have ever eaten, it was so moist and delicious that I ended up helping myself with two generous servings. There were drool worthy Indian Desserts as well, but I guess I gave my all to the Chocolate Gateaux but I am sure the other desserts would be as delectable as the ones I tried.

There was a special counter for kids which served interesting pan cakes, assorted cupcakes, chocolate dumplings and more.

Then there was a small cake cutting ceremony lead by Ms. Maulina Gupta and the entire Hyatt staff and it brought my pleasant day to an end.
