While preparing for traditional Sunday lunches at home, we often spend a lot of time thinking about what to make for the dessert, because I feel it is one of the key elements of a meal. This Sunday since we were preparing a typical North Indian Thali with Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani and Kadhai Paneer, I thought of making Kheer for the dessert.
This recipe was passed on to me by my mother, its simple and yummy!
1/4 Cup Rice- Washed
5 Cups Full Cream Milk
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Tea Spoon Cardamom Powder
A Pinch of Saffron Dissolved In Milk
Chopped Almonds and Cashews
I used Zantye’s Almonds and Cashews because some of the ingredients that enhance the taste of a dish are very important and thus I believe in using only quality products. Zantye’s has been my favorite ever since I stepped my foot in Goa 10 years ago. Back then I used to parcel them for Delhi and now since Goa is home, I simply cannot do without these. From desserts to my chicken recipes and kebabs, I use Zantyes products quite extensively in my cooking.
Boil the rice and milk in a deep pan.
Simmer over a low flame, stirring occasionally till the rice is cooked and the milk becomes thick.
Add sugar when done, and stir lightly till it gets dissolved
Add cardamom powder and saffron dissolved in milk.
Transfer into a serving dish and garnish with almonds and cashews. I prefer my almonds and cashews raw, if you want you can either soak them in water for sometime and then use or even toast them lightly in a pan.
Millets or Ragi is a great option when considering healthy food because it is packed with nutrients and is gluten-free. Pancakes are my favourite form of breakfast and I simply love gorging on them, but when choosing healthy options, we often feel that we will have to give up on such indulgences. But not anymore, all you need to do is experiment a little and tada, you can have your pleasures without feeling sinful about it.
Although I have tried making pancakes using just the organic ragi flour, and then experimented by adding some cocoa powder to it, to give it the chocolaty flavor, then I found a perfect product to meet both my needs. The Slurrp Farm Millet-Chocolate Pancake Mix is an ideal choice for a person like me who wants to keep it healthy and chocolaty 🙂
1/2 cup millet flour
1/3 cup milk
1/2 tsp sugar free
A pinch of cinnamon
A pinch of salt
Butter for cooking
Add the dry ingredients – millet flour, salt, cinnamon powder and sugar-free – to a bowl
Mix well until combined
Now add the milk and eggs to this
Mix gently until combined
Heat a pan and spread some butter
Pour about 1/4 cup and let the batter spread to form a thick circle
Cook on both sides until golden brown
Add more butter as needed
Best served warm but keeps well for about 2 hours
To make it like a proper breakfast, I serve it with a few slices of banana and berries and add some honey on the top.

Smoothies are a great option for breakfast or those in-between hunger pangs. They are healthy and super delicious too. I like to keep experimenting with my smoothie recipes and you can never have enough of them.
The mixed berry smoothie recipe is one of my favorites. It’s very refreshing and I simply enjoy the taste. Takes just about 5 minutes to make and all thanks to the Greek Yogurt, its both filling and packed with proteins.
To share an interesting tip, in place of sweetness, try and use apple juice or any other fruit juice, it adds to the flavor and also balances the tanginess of berries. In case if you still feel like using a sweetener, go for either honey or jaggery instead of sugar. Using juice also helps in balancing the consistency of the smoothie, if using other sweeteners, add a bit of almond milk, toned milk, or coconut milk.
Now coming to the recipe
One and a half cup of apple juice/any milk
One banana sliced
One and a half cup frozen mixed berries
3/4th cup vanilla Greek yogurt
One tablespoon honey (optional)
Some berries and mint leaves for garnishing (optional)
Place the apple juice, banana, berries and, yogurt in a blender; blend until smooth. If the smoothie seems too thick, add a little more liquid (1/4 cup).
Taste and add honey if desired. Pour into two glasses and garnish with fresh berries and mint sprigs if desired.

Grant’s Family Reserve (50ml)
Orange juice (50ml)
Sweet vermouth (45ml)
GARNISH: Maraschino cherry with a teaspoon of juice
Add Whisky, Orange Juice, and sweet vermouth to a shaker.
Add in a spoon of juice from the Maraschino cherry jar.
Strain and garnish with a Maraschino cherry.

Sugar cube soaked in bitters
GARNISH: Lemon twist
Add sugar cube soaked in bitters to a Champagne flute.
Well now that the holidays are over and my son has gone to Delhi, I am back to eating my healthy stuff. But today I was not in a mood to cook too many things so opted for this wholesome soup which has a perfect balance of proteins and carbohydrates and is super easy to make. Needless to say, it tastes awesome 😋
Here are the ingredients you would need:
Tomato Purée- 1 packet
Olive Oil- 1 table spoon
Water- 1/2 glass
Oregano- 1/4th teaspoon
Dried Basil Leaves- 1/4th teaspoon
Paprika- 1/4th teaspoon
Brown Bread Slice- 1
Salt to taste
Fresh Cream- 1 spoon for garnishing
Heat olive oil in a pan and add chopped garlic.
Sauté the garlic and pour the entire packet of tomato purée and then add water.
Let it cook for about 5 minutes on low heat.
Add the spices and simmer for another couple of minutes
Increase the flame and bring the soup to a boil.
While the soup is getting boiled, toast a slice of brown bread and cut it like croutons.
Beat the egg lightly in a bowl and once the soup starts to boil, hold the bowl over the top of the pan and slowly release the beaten egg, stirring the soup simulated.
You will get the egg drop threads in the soup and it’s texture will change a bit.
Bring it to another boil and remove from flame.
If you want you can add a bit of Tabasco to give your soup a spicy and tangy flavour.
Pour it in a bowl, and top it with croutons and add a dash of fresh cream to garnish.
Note: This recipe is for one bowl of soup and you can multiply the ingredients as per the servings. Enjoy a complete meal.

Method – In a goblet glass pour the Glenfiddich 12, Figs Puree, reduced apple juice, Ginger juice, aromatic bitters and lime juice and mix well. Fill with ice and top with Tonic water. Garnish with dried figs in a skewer
